John J. Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 At my aunt and uncle's house in Maryland we had a forest fire envelope the woods 2 miles away from her house back in 2001 or 2002. It was scary and that night they had wind. It was in Cumberland, Maryland. I remember that day and I will never forget it! It took rescue and firetrucks 10 hours to extinguish it, with a little help from the rain. Apparently an idiot driving in the National Forest (my aunt and uncle live right on the national forest) threw out a cigarrette and since the area was dry at the time (it was summer). Everything lit quickly and kept going... Forest fires are scary and they are to be taken seriously! Hopefully your fire goes out with no problem. I will keep your and your family's safety in my prayers! God bless 8-) Quote
RecMar8541 Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 news trucks were just outside, everything is very smokey here, wind coming this way, slight breeze. The fire has been burning about 3 days now, and they had some heavies dropping water today. You can actually hear the trees exploding from my house. Creepy. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Yea theres some dumb people out there. Were under a burn ban right now becasue it is so dry. I just got home from a fishing trip and a guy across the street has bond fire going. But I smoke from time to time and never throw a cigarrette butt out the car window. I don't even do that in the winter when we got a few feet of snow. Quote
