Guest hibachi Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Have you guys heard about the Wisconsin University offensive lineman, Joe Thomas, who is skipping the NFL draft ceremony to go fishing with his dad? What makes it even more astonishing is that he is expected to be either the second or fifth overall pick. Instead of being in the spotlight with a suit and tie, he is going to be out on the lake. Sure, he isn't going bass fishing, but it's the whole idea of skipping one of the most "important" events to go fishing. I think that is awesome, and honestly, I don't blame him one bit. I'd much rather be out on the lake in my shorts and a t-shirt with my dad. No doubt he will remember the trip just as much, if not more than he would remember walking up onto a stage and posing for some cameras. tipptruck1 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Yes I have heard of him. I live in wisconsin and a badger fan. But I think I would also skip the draft. The salmon are starting there spring run on the lakes right now. Quote
adub66 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I would skip too...I mean the guy is going to get enough spotlight as it is...he has his priorities straight...that is what life is all about God and Family...and Fishing above all else...That's Right Quote
deadeye32. Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I think its great that he's going fishing with dad, but isnt that a bit disrespectful to the team that picks him, his new teamates, and the NFL, He will be paid so much money to play a great sport, and he acts like its not a main priority. What happens if the fish are bitting during the super bowl or a big game, is his head gonna be there or at the lake. Just my opinion, Hope the colts dont get him, we need defensive backs anyway.
