Troutfisher Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 CAN'T BELIEVE IT! Just got back from a trip to Pittsburgh, and now here in the WV they're calling for snow Sunday night! Global warming? : Quote
zara spook Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I'm with you troutfisher. If it snows in Morgantown on monday I am going to boycott global warming...again! Quote
Troutfisher Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Heh...I went over to Pittsburgh and they were going to have a global warming concert and event today in downtown area. We were going to go just to take pictures of people rallying in their winter clothes ;D Quote
Other. Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Global warming does not always increase the average temp of the earth : But yes It is cold outside. I had to wear a sweatshirt in the dugout during my baseball game today. Quote

No kidding, I was going to give you a shout to see if you wanted to head to Lone Star this week or weekend, but with the cold rain and snow lately, I think the water temps have probably cooled off enough to put a damper on things for a while. They asked them about GW and the earnest responses were priceless. Quote
Cephkiller Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Global warming does not always increase the average temp of the earth : It does increase the average temperature of the Earth, just not the temperature everywhere all the time. I, personally, realize that this is the case. It's just funny to juxtapose the panic many are expressing with the anomalous cold weather many of us are facing this spring. My personal opinion is that the Earth is certainly warming, but the anthropogenic cause of it is purely speculation. It could be cyclical, solar activity, or many other factors besides human influence. If we can make reasonable changes to reduce humanity's impact then I'm all for it. I just have a feeling that many environmentalists have an ulterior motive which is the reduction or elimination of capitalism via the decrease of economic output in the guise of green policies. Of course, I am not accusing you of this, I reserve this for those who are leading the charge. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 15, 2007 Super User Posted April 15, 2007 This global warming hype is this that HYPE. I heard there was an ICE AGE in North America about 20,000 years ago. It's been warming up since. How may vehicle exhausts, and factory emissions caused the glacier in OHIO to melt? Quote
moby bass Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 I guess the latest spin is that global warming will cause wild and varied fluctuations in the weather, such as the cold and snow many of us are currently experiencing. Gotta create the problem to fit the solution. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted April 15, 2007 Super User Posted April 15, 2007 I'm going out of my mind people!!! Cabin fever is killing me!! This weather sucks!!! > Quote

How may vehicle exhausts, and factory emissions caused the glacier in OHIO to melt? There was also an mini ice age fairly recently in Europe, and the temps there are just starting to get back to where they were before it started. And BTW it has been snowing on and off here for the last 12 hours or so. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted April 15, 2007 Super User Posted April 15, 2007 More like Global Cooling. It was 40 today in tennessee in april with some snow flurries in tennessee in april. what the (bleep) Quote
KYbass1276 Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 We went from record highs to record lows for this time of year all in a weeks time. One weekend I was trying to catch them off the bed and this weekend I just stay in bed for a couple extra hours instead of getting up early to go fishing. Quote
Water Dog Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 I was just fixing to make some smart aleck comment about GW last night and about half way through my musing the power went out. One of my out buildings blew off of its foundations into smithereens; lucky my little boat wasn't next to it. ;D That was a puff of wind that has been going for about 48 hrs now. Went out for breakfast since we have no power, saw one of those places that sells car ports had had their inventory blown all over the place with a car lot next door, you can imagine the damage. "Beware the ides of March" especially when they wait until April. ;D Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 16, 2007 Super User Posted April 16, 2007 It 's been the first April I can remember where temps haven 't gone over 110°. Quote
