Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted April 13, 2007 Super User Posted April 13, 2007 Woke up this morning and let the dog out and he absolutely bursted down the steps .... VERY ODD. There was a turkey in my backyard!!!!!!!! I live in a suburb of Kansas City. There should not be turkey in my backyard. I didn't know they could fly. I thought they were a flightless bird. Quote
georgiabassfisherman Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 no sir they can fly and can fly pretty darn good when they have to they dont fly often though only to cross fences or rivers or when they fly down in the morning or up in the evening or when running from predators. GBF Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted April 14, 2007 Super User Posted April 14, 2007 Well, I can tell you one thing..... I'M PUMPED!!!!!!! Tomorrow is opening day, and i've been ready since the last season closed. I like to duck hunt. Like to deer hunt. Really like to squirrel hunt. Really really really enjoy fishing. BUT I LOVE TURKEY SEASON!! I wish the best of luck to all the hunters this year, but for now, I got to go bag a few gobblers. 8-) Quote
RecMar8541 Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I have a group of about 35-40 birds that come to the back pasture every morning. They are an easy shot from my back deck, but that will never happen. I used to be an avid hunter, now I am happy to put holes in paper. Turkeys arent the only thing around here, bears in the trash are very very common..... Best of luck and many wishes of safety to all the guys here who hunt, I have nothing at all against it, I just dont wish to make anything dead anymore....except some specks and gills LOL!!! Quote
