djmax22 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I was never part of the lipless crank crowd after trying the rattle-traps and rattln rap over the years with limited success. However, I have been converted to the lipless crowd after using this lure. It is now the first thing that I throw in the morning and this is coming from a diehard jig man. The only drawback is that they need to make a 3/4 and 1oz size. Quote
rondef Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 These work sweet, I have caught some hawgs throwing these. Quote
djmax22 Posted April 21, 2008 Author Posted April 21, 2008 I lost one nice fish yesterday using this lure, but was consitantly putting them in the boat. Quote
rondef Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I always swap the hooks with Gamakatzu hooks for that one reason. Quote
BuzzBait25 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I love these things. If I throw a lipless they are my first choice. I also add an extra snap ring to give the hook a little more movement during the fight to help keep the fish on. Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 21, 2008 Super User Posted April 21, 2008 I got on them big last year. One of the best features is how easily you can rip them through grass. I don't know what it is but they come through great. Quote
quant PT Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I tried one of these today for the first time. I got hit on it right away ( and missed) and then I noticed it ran funny. When I looked at it one of the eyes had fallen off. I removed the other eye ( it popped off very easily) and it ran OK for a few more casts, then it started acting weird again. I then noticed that the finish was peeling off in sheets. I removed the rest of the finish and now it is all chrome ( I still caught fish off of it ). I was just wondering if anyone else has had durability issues with it. I got mine at Walmart and I sometimes wonder if you always get first quality stuff there. Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 I slam my red craw lipless one into rocks and it still looks fine. As for the running issue, I have had one or two do it to me. Quote

Super User eyedabassman Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 What color do you guys like to fish? I want to get some and try them out. What make them so much better than a Rattle-Trap? Quote
PezJunkie Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I fish chrome sexy shad, sexy shad, red craw and Tenn shad, and what makes them stand out I guess is the way the fall in the water and also KVD uses them. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 Thats the whole deal with the SK Red Eye shad baits. When you pause it, it actually has a swimming action when its sinking, unlike the "sinking like a rock" action of a regular Rat L Trap when paused. If you look up the Elite tournament that KVD won in Florida either last month or February, he tells you all about the unique action. I would've never bought one if I knew nothing about the downward swimming action. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 it's good to hear such good reviews of this bait, especially considering I just ordered a couple of em Quote
TheBeast Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 It's been the only lipless to produce for me this year. I have used XR's, diamond shad's, and Cordell spots. Have had the problem with them running weird but I can't find anything physically on the bait to cause it. I have had the same issue with the eyes coming off my SK series 4 cranks (sexy shad) that have been my best producers the past couple weeks. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 28, 2008 Super User Posted April 28, 2008 I got one in Sexy Shad. I caught a fish on each of my first three casts, and many after that. I've had no swimming or durability issues though. Falcon Quote
GobbleDog Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I admit it; even though I'm cheap as hell and rarely try new baits I ordered one after seeing KVD tear it up last month in Toho's off-shore grass. I currently have no confidence in lipless crankbaits, and I want to add them to my arsenal. Quote
