HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. --  A theater chain is apologizing to parents and children who were shocked by a movie mix-up on Long Island.

National Amusements said it's working with theater managers to make sure nothing similar happens again.

The moviegoers were expecting to see the PG rated movie "The Last Mimzy" at the Island 16 multiplex in Holtsville on Thursday. Instead, they saw the opening scene of the R-rated film "The Hills Have Eyes 2." It shows a chained, naked woman giving birth what appears to be a mutant creature.

Some 50 people -- including parents with young children -- began screaming and ran out.

The staff stopped the movie, gave free ticket vouchers to patrons who were upset, and started "The Last Mimzy" about a half-hour late.

several years ago while in a video store...in a hurry...I grabbed a little cartoon for the kids called "southpark"...I had no clue it was adult.  Well when i got home I chucked it in theold vcr and set the kids to watch it...within like 30 seconds I was bolting into the living room fumbling to get it shut off LOL

I saw that article in the paper, made me laugh...  Seriously, though, that's the kind of thing that will give little kids nightmares for years because they understand what they're looking at and some have problems separating reality from movies.  From what the article said, though, I think some of the parents got a little TOO angry about it.  People make mistakes, even projector workers in a theater...
