same bass twice? 2 hours apart

Is something like this normal?

8 ft offshore I noticed where one was spawning?? 3 ft circle, anyway dropped a 5"lizard in there and on the 3rd try caught a small 3/4 lb bass. Then minutes later I went back to that spot and caught a 1 1/2 lb'er. Now figured that was enough and went back inside.

Then about 2 hours later headed back out there with the same lizard and within 5 cast, I landed her again. Take it that they dont have much of a memory?

Now that I got you here, I had some issues today. I picked up on that "texas-rig" ( Learned that from this site ) and I am leaving the hook inside the worm, just enough to where I can feel the tip with my finger while barely pressing on it. Is that right? Or should some of it stick out?

I lost 4 bass earlier and think it was due to the way I was hooking the worm/lizard.

Not sure about the same bass twice but the way I hook my t rigged plastics is I use a hook with bigger gap. Its called texposed.  Look it up on google images. My hook has a bigger gap so the point is parellel with the worm. Still weedless but a way better hook up rate.

Ok, got ya. So I guess I am doing it right then. Having to do it this way due to heavy vegetation. ( lost enough stuff the last few days, dont want to risk anymore) Now I am just losing the fish.

I hook it up so the hook point is thru the body, but then I pull it forward just enough to put the hook point in the plastic. I pull it about the same distance as ONE of those little rings on a senko, so it is not very much.

Sorry if this is confusing, easier to show somebody than to tell them if that makes any sense.

No its not entirely out of the realm of possibility especially if it was off of a bed.The bass usually dont take too kindly to invaders.

Been there done that.I have also broke my line off on one and come back to the same spot an hour or so after only to catch the little punk with my worm,hook,and sinker stuck in his throat

Searoach, I get the jist of what you are saying. Guess I can practice some tomorrow.

I am just worried that if the hook is not sticking out a hair, that when I go to set the hook, the worm dont fly out the bass mouth.

I push the hook point completely through the plastic & the pull it back until the point is completely buried.

Here you go.

Start out like a regular texas rig.

Push the hook all the way through.

Pull slightly back on worm and barely skin hook worm making sure it lies strait. You can put hook into worm slightly more if you need a more snagproof lure.

I dont think yall will believe this but catching the same fish more than once has happened 3 times for me.

1. Last spring I was sight fishing a bed. I caught the same Buck bass three times on a texas rigged lizzard before I caught the 5 lb female with him.

2. Fishing Clarks Hill Res. last summer throwing a carolina rig. Hooked up with a nice fish and he broke the leader. 30mins later and about 75 yds down the bank I caught a nice 3 lber. I looked in his mouth and I see another line sticking out of it. I start pulling on the line and here comes my ole monster worm and my gamy hook. I couldnt believe it.

3. My bros and I were fishing a private pond back home. One brother hooked up with a nice fish faught it all the way to the bank and it broke. Not 5 mins later my other brother hooked a solid 4 lber. I walked over to help him get it out of the water and believe it or not the other hook and hook was stuck in the top of her mouth as well. I guess it just happenes every once in a while if you fish enough....

today i caught the same buck three times off his bed. i could have caught him more but felt bad for him. his female was about 10 feet away from him and the nest chasing away bluegill. the bed was right up on the bank (which i was fishing from). the fish was so locked on i could stand right over him (the rest of the spawners were skittish to my presence and i had to back away and cast to the bed to catch them). but anyway i could keep dropping lures on top of his head and hed keep picking them up but i was wacky rigging so he wasnt grabbing the hook. once i thought he did and set the hook and ripped the trick worm. whats funny was he actually kept that worm in his mouth then finally sucked it all in. i changed to a weightless lizard and caught him in two casts, while i was reeling him in he jumped and spit trick worm out. after this i tried to catch the female for a while but she was skittish. before i moved i changed to a senko and caught the buck again in a few casts. i released him again and walked and caught a few more bass off beds before i picked up the buzzbait and fished around the pond when i got back to the bed with the bass id caught twice, this time i rigged a light shaky head rig up and caught him again.

fwiw...couple years ago, caught the same 6# bass on the same bait off the same point three weeks in a row.

I've caught the same bass twice in 20 minutes. Then went back and caught him again the next day. It was just a little spotted bass in a small river.

In the fall, river Smallies form into big schools in specific areas and go on a feeding frenzy, gorging themselves prior to the cold water of winter.  During these times, we have caught the same fish so many times we actually have given them names.  It is not at all unusual to catch the same Smallie 3 or 4 times in an afternoon.  My favorite time of the year, needless to say.

In my experience(limited) there are only two fish on a bed and 75%+ of the time only the one male.  The females are usually only up for about a week to 10 days, and then they are gone.  I've caught the same fish off beds 15 minutes apart a couple times.  Never had it happen any place other than off a bed.

If you find one bed, figure out why its there and lood for similar places.  Sometimes in less than 1' of water sometimes 4-6' of water.  Look for holes in vegetation in shallow muddy weedy water, light spots on the bottom about 5' deep in clear water.  Lots of people swear by lizards, but I've had much better luck with crawdads slowly dancing on the bed.

I have seen a yellow perch caught, gently released and caught again in less then a minute!

Last year I had a small one eyed largemouth in the livewell that I needed to cull out. The whole time in the livewell, maybe an hour or so, he was freakin' out, knocking the lid up, makin' a bunch of racket, just rippin' around in the livewell. Finally I caught a better one and I was able to cull the little fella. I throw him back, mark my board, re-rig my fluke, the whole time thinking.....he's gone, thank goodness, some peace and quiet again. Well, the very next cast I skipped under a dock and saw a flash, fluke disappeared and I flipped that same little one eyed dude right up on the deck. He had swam straight to the nearest dock, set up beside a post and was actively feeding after just being thrown back from the livewell maybe one minute before.

As far as male bass on beds, they'll bite over and over. There have been instances where I've caught the male 2 or 3 times in a row and finally just had to put 'em in the livewell for a minute while I worked on the female. If I had casted to the male for 8 hours straight, he'd eat it all day long.
