John J. Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Went down to the pond today and pitched around my Culprit Finesse worm texas style. Didn't really expect anything to hit I just wanted to enjoy the outdoors. I worked my way around the pond and got to the creek cove when all of a sudden I felt two instant taps and then, whamo! I set the hook and brought up a 10" bass. I felt kind of guilty setting the hook (really want the bass to settle down and at least start eating baitfish before catching them and releasing them), so I casted back out and then I felt tap tap tap, wham, and then I watched the fish drag my line all over the area lol and then it released it. I thought to myself "this is fun and funny at the same time" (simple minds are amused by simple things...lol). And I continued it and I tell you for every time I felt taps if I would have set the hook, I would have had enough bass to feed my family and then some lol! But instead I just had fun down by the creek cove, feeling the taps, whams and watching my line run. So that is an easy indicator that the fish are feeding (good thing). We are going to stock the pond tomorrow with another 20 pounds of fat head minnows so they will have plenty to eat. Hopefully later on this week I might hit the Lake and really catch some bass on my worm!! God bless 8-) Quote
skillet Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 It sounds like the pond will be a solid thing in a few years. With lighter gear you do have just as much fun with the smaller ones (I am such a LIAR ;D). You might want to be careful letting them run like that. It seems like if I let them have it too long they tend to swallow the hook and I would just about as soon take a whippin' as gut-hook one :'( As Ever, Skillet Quote
