Got in from LA this afternoon, and the new owner came by this evening to pick her up. Now it's time for a new project. :)

You know Redline. It amazes me about the life you live. Speaking only for myself I think its great. I am sure you have worked hard to get where you are in life. I have read a lot of your post and never really took what you said as bragging, I took it that you were excited, like when you bought your Ranger. You always seemed alright in my book. I say, you go boy! :)

Thanks gys, and I appreciate the comment.  I conisder you guys friends, and in no way have I ever meant to come off as bragging about anything.  Just sharing my passions with you guys.

I'm probably going to wait for a while before I get another car.  I've been eating; driking and sleeping bass fishing the last few months. :)

I took a serious look at the Ford GT, but to me the interior is not befitting a $165k car.  The one car that I really dig is 997TT, so we shall see.  For now, the boat is keeping me busy.

I like the Saleen S7.  I hear that you get so much downforce at 160mph+, you would be able to drive upside down, if there was a tunnel that allowed.

What about the Ferrari Enzo?  Those are cool.  I also think that you get matching luggage with it.  8-)

sidecar_rig.jpg  This is my dreamride. I actually got the stella scooter, no sidecar. It gets 90 miles to the gallon and cruises just a hair over 60 MPH. It don't sound fast, but with its precise steering, and the feeling like your sitting in a kitchen chair travelling 60 mph never gets boring, or old as of yet. :)Ivan

Saleen is cool, but too much going on with that car's body. Plus, it drops in value like a 5 oz sinker. :) The Enzo is FANTASTIC, I have a friend that has one, but you can't drive it. They are currently trading hands at about $1.3 million as well. I would never pay that much money for one car. others have mentioned the Carrera GT, but even those are crazy - brand new they were going for $450,000, now they are trading hands at $320,000. Oh and did I mention that the clutch on tha car runs $28,000???

I really like the new Porsche 997TT. A company out of Arizona, www.evoms.com, is tuning that car up to 610 hp and 620 lb/ft of torque. This is on stock internals, stock turbos, and stock clutch. 0 - 60 in 3 seconds flat. All for a relatively inexpensive $13,000. The base car runs about $140,000 as well.

I love buying cars and tuning them. That is 3/4 of the fun for me. Porsche's are very tunable, reliable, and the engineering behind them is second to noe for the price. I'd honestly say that the new 997TT is better designed than my old Lamborghini. Now if some of my Lambo buddies heard me say this, they'd have me hung. :)

Bottom line is I am a car enthusiast first and foremost. That is one of the reason I like Porsche and Lambo so much. Many of the guys that I met through both vehicles are truly car guys, and not "status" guys. They buy the car for the car, not for what it says about your status. Ferrari guys on the other hand, for the most part, are the opposite. I do have a couple friends though that don't fit into that category, so not all Ferrari guys are like that. Maybe it's just my luck that most that I have met are......

Anyway, here is picture of what I am thinking my next Porsche will look like, only it will more than likely be either all white or black. I don't care for the two tone look at all.  This is a 997TT with the Techart GT Street body kit.

Redline, I always enjoy reading your posts. I don't think anyone on here looks at what you say is bragging. Just like justfishin said, you earned it man. :) Keep us informed of any expensive or non expensive toys you get in the future. ::) By the way, you got a heck of a deal on that Ito reel. ;D I had it saved in my Ebay favorite auctions. I was watching it just to see what it went for. I had to give $300.00 for mine.

NorthGA,

That's why I sold it. If it can't pull a bass boat, what good is it for. ;)

Jimzee,

I scored on that reel. I still cant believe I got it for $250. It came in today, I changed the handles on it. Looks sweet!

Tipp,

I had an '05 Murcielago, here's a picture taken by my buddy Kirby.

Redline, if you really want a sweet ride, you need to look at the Merkur Scorpio.  Oh wow, its something special. HA HA  ;)  I would bet and say that no one has even heard of it.  Oh well, it was 15 yrs old with 160k and still would do 135mph.

OH WOW :o   That car was freaking cool!!!  I'm speechless.  I bet it was a pure joy to drive!

I'm bet/gaurantee that the oil changes are more than my $350 per month payment for my '04 F-150.  I can't even imagine what parts cost for that thing.

Hey what speed did she top out for ya?  (If its able to "top" out, it could just keep gain speed forever)

I bet whatever the posted speed limit was. ;D ;D ;D

The car topped out at 211.  I never had the car ona track, so the fastest I ever had it on a freeway was 165.  The road was clear, flat, and no other cars were in the area.

A new clutch on the car was a "reasonable" $4,000.  Much less than other supercars.  I had the car for 2 years, put 8600 miles on it and went through 2 oil changes.  The clutch was still perfect at the end of my time with the car.  I'd heard that others needed a new clutch as soon as 3,000 miles!  That was a concern before I got the car but honestly at the end of my time with the car I had no issues to report what so ever.  The break in service was free, and the second oil change at 4500 miles was free as well.   I honestly don't know what the oil change costs.

Redliner, I understand where you are coming from, I too am a car enthusiast. I only invest in the best! Currently I am running a 1999 Nissan Altima that books for about $3,200, but man is she sweet. You should see this bad boy struggle to hit 70...breathless!! ;)

LOL...JK, good for you to be able to afford the finer things. If you dont mind my asking, what do you do for a living?

Since you're in the market for a vehicle, I have a sweet 91 Ford Econoline XL 15 passenger van that I would let go for a decent price. She is not too fast and has 166,000 miles on her, but will haul a lot of stuff and pull your boat. 8-) I'll PM a picture and details if your interested. :D :D

Your story reminded me of a friend who has deep pockets and likes nice cars. He had just puchased the big BMW sedan, and decided to see how she handled at speed. He took it out on the interstate very early one morning, and was clocked at 135mph by the MO. state police. When he was asked if he knew how fast he was going, he replied he didn't know for sure but knew it was well above the limit. He was told what they clocked him at, and aked why in the world he was driving so fast. He smiled and said he was just driving with traffic. The officer said, "Sir, there isn't any traffic." My friend smilled and said, "That is just my point." The officer laughed, shook his head, cited him for 90mph in a 70mph zone, and told him to slow down, traffic or not. It pays to keep your head, and a sense of humor. A little luck dosen't hurt either.

wow, he's lucky. Normally he could be cited for reckless driving for that speed. But I'm glad he got rewarded for being honest and taking responsibility for breaking the law.
