skillet Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I guess if anyone ever put us together in a boat it would be "2 old mooks in a boat" : As Ever, Skillet Quote
justfishin Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Hey Muddy and Skillet, can I join? It would be a lot cheaper for the three of us if we chipped in and bought our Depends in bulk !!! ;D Quote

skillet Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 "Old and in the way" We could get one of those bumper stickers for the stern of ol' stump jumper that says "I may be slow but I'm ahead of you" ;D Not meaning to make light of the situation. A really good friend who also likes to fish is only slightly easier to find than a really good woman. I think I've got one of the best but she don't fish :'( As Ever, Skillet Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 I'm really sorry you lost your partner Muddy. I don't know what I'd do if I lost mine, who happens to be my dad. Some of my best memories growing up have been made on fishing trips with my dad. Through fishing and boxing, we are very close. The thought has crossed my mind, with him getting up in age, how hard it will be for me when is he gone. Greatfully we have made some fantastic memories, and I look forward to making more of them. Here's to all the dads out there! My Dad was my fishing partner since I was born, about 10 years ago he got congestive heart failure. Now, he spends most of the time on the couch because he can't walk to the other end of the house without being run down, and out of breath. Even with the pacemaker he just got installed. It was very hard for me to not be on the water with him. He just turned 60, and when I have a great day of fishing, I don't want to tell him because I know how bad he will feel about not being there. One day, you realize that you're on your own, and hopefully I will be there for my son now when he gets older...Luckily, I found a friend through drag racing who was into bass fishing as much as I was, so we teamed up. skillet Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Matt 5.0, I'm within a year or two of your Dad, and know I can't speak for him. If I ever get a fishing partner that I'm that close with and I was in your Dad's place, especially if a son or daughter. I would probably enjoy the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth fishing story (yea, right ;D) every once in a while. Fishing stories should be like river stories and the only difference between a fairy tale and a river story is one starts out "once upon a time" and the other starts out "this ain't no s**t"...
