logger Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Has anyone seen the movie 300? The wife and I want to see it tomorrow and was wondering if it's worth seeing. Quote
BassPonder72 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 300 officially opens today. There were some midnight showings last night so, you won't get any feedback on the movie for a few days. That said, the movie is based on a graphic novel(comic book) by Frank Miller (Sin City). Don't know if you have seen that but, it would help you evaluate whether or not you might want to see 300. Expect it to be a little more far fetched than the concept of 300 men defeating the entire Persian army at Thermopolae. I think it will be worth seeing but, that's just me. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 9, 2007 Super User Posted March 9, 2007 I can't WAIT to see this movie. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 9, 2007 Super User Posted March 9, 2007 I'm looking forward to watching it. Quote
Thefishy1 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I went out and got tickets for the 10:00 showing so tonight I wont have to wait in line Quote
razyrsharpe Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 i like anything that Frank Miller has done. i will see the movie this weekend for sure! Quote
HUNTER19 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 this movie looks so bad ***!!! i tried to get tickets to it tonight but no luck i cant wait to see it!!! Quote
sctoddc Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Great movie, saw it today...loved it, from beginning to end. Todd Quote
RottManK9 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 That's one hell of discriptive answer you gave there sctoddc! So just what was it that you liked about it so much? ;D ;D Quote
timmyswetarded Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 just got back from it...its pretty sweet. all the fighting was awesome, esp the spartan tactics. but some of the persian army stuff was weird, like rhinos and elephants. did anyone notice how the persian king look a little "fruity"? he had on some nice lipstick and wonderfully plucked eyebrows along with eyeliner haha. the 300 didnt defeat the whole army just so ya know, at the end the spartan army launches its full scale attack. anyways i thought it was pretty sweet. Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 11, 2007 Super User Posted March 11, 2007 I just watched it as well. I'd give it a 7. It was good, not great in my opinion. Quote
radiob Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I really do want to see 330, is it worth the movie ticket? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 12, 2007 Super User Posted March 12, 2007 Saw the movie last night...I rate it a solid 10. I don't necessarily need a plot or character development to enjoy an "action movie," but this production has a historical basis, a feasible plot and characters with depth. The action is fast, brutal and has some breasts...all attributes for me! There is no cursing and the adversaries are committed. The battles are surreal, but again, that is what I like. Scenery (cinematography) and costuming is superb and the special effects are awesome. The movie will make you feel like you are a part of ancient Greece. Quote
logger Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Wife and I went and loved every minute of it. What a great movie. And Timmy I agree that the persian king -god did appear a little "fruity". I was however blown away by the stupidity of the family sitting next to us. They had 3 kids with them and the youngest couldn't have been over 6 years old and the oldest couldn't have been older than 10. Who takes a 1st grader to that movie!!? Great movie for adults but a 6year old? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 12, 2007 Super User Posted March 12, 2007 logger. That's pitiful! I loved the movie, but how could anyone think it "might be" appropriate for children? The movie is rate "R"... Duh? Quote
Madhouse27 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I can't wait to see it. Been watching reruns of Gladiator, Rome and The Patriot all winter. A new release epic action movie is just what the doctor ordered. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 12, 2007 Super User Posted March 12, 2007 I saw it and thought it was awesome. As for children and R rated movies, when I saw Jackass 2, there were kids in there that looked no older than 8 Quote
zara spook Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I know the morning radio show I listen to in WV was concerned about the graphics. Apparently there is a question about where the blood goes when there is a fight scene. The word on the street is that the graphics are like that of old video games like Mortal Kombat and the blood flies but then disappears. That was the only bad thing they had to say about it though. Honestly I never noticed anything like that when I saw it. I thought the movie "looked" awesome. But I wasn't looking for a reason to critique the movie either. I still say the movie is a "10+" you should see it and make your own judgement ZS. Quote
Vyron Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 awesome movie being greek i enjoyed it even more Quote
