Ghost Rider Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I am a Rooster kicking jet boat driver ..... I had a run in with a bass angler on Coleto Creek in Texas last Oct...... I do not buzz other boaters due to respect for the law and safety..... We have get-to-gethers like ya do but we get different rules...kinda funny if you ask me.. So i got buzzed pulling my anchor up by a bass fisherman, he just about sunk my boat... real uncool if you ask me.... He went off in to the weeds and stumps and did his thing. Our members ran on the other side of the lake having fun, so this bass fisherman puts his boat right smake dam in the middle of our lanes of running. Was he fishing or trying to start a fight? The State park put rules on us different from the regular park rules like quite time 10pm to 6am. Our time to run was 10am to 6pm which is ok for me. That same bass fisherman came back on Sat. 4am put the lower unit in just enough to pump water and ran it on the trailer.. OB are just as loud as a BBC out of the water.... I was clear across the park and he woke me up out of a good slumber....I should have walked over and helped him launch his boat... Is it just me or is there a war on between other boaters (jet Boats) and bass fishermen? Some will take this thread wrong some wont and some will be up set with what i got to say next I think we can all get a long and I must admit ya have some hot looking fast boats out there. Quote

Ghost Rider Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 No doing some reading checking out the site thats all... thought i would would share my story and i am sure you have some too. Quote
justfishin Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Just remember, there are idiots by land , sea and air. You are going to meet them not just on the water in a bassboat but, in all aspects of your life. Rise above them by handling the situation in a calm, adult manner. That really pi**s them off. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 The anglers frustration is aimed more at jet skiers than jet boaters. A boat, of any type, is generally less likely to come in and disturb the area you are fishing than a jet skier because many ski operators don't view their vessel as a true boat and think it's ok to be anywhere, anytime, often,...at any speed. I own a jet boat too, but not like yours. Some pics of mine are in THIS post. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted March 4, 2007 Super User Posted March 4, 2007 Jeez fluke, did you really have to be like that to him? I thought you was a moderator? I didnt know moderators was allow to act like that. To answer your question ghost. YES! there is a war going on between jet boat and bassfishermans. I was fishing in a backcove last summer away from main lake. This jet ski came into the cove start doing donut 25 yards away from me just to tick me off. I just kept fishing acting like he wasn't there then he finally left and I pulled out the cove then found the boat again pulling into a marina not far from where we was I pulled in and ask him thanks for the wake you dumb @$. Then I ticked him off going my grandma can handle a jet ski better then you. We almost had a throw down right there on that dock. Some jet skiers live to tick us off us bassfisherman because they think they own the lake. My cousin and I was fishing one day on Lake Tuscaloosa. We was in a backcove then we troll near a dock saying "private dock no fishing" We was like screw him it public water. We did one or two pitch underneath the dock then we moved on and fish 15 yards away from the dock we was basically on public water nowhere near the dock, then the owner pulled up next to us on a jet ski saying he was going to sue us for fishing ON HIS PROPERTY. I was like "sir first off I'm on public water second off I'm not anywhere near your dock I'm 15 yards away." Then he said something stupid and me and my cousin said "screw this" we are losing day light so we donut the area and left. I get tired of jet skiers and jetboat saying they own this water and I need to leave. I have no problem sharing water with jet skier, but if your riding too close and creating to much wake then we have a problem. Quote
Ghost Rider Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 Most of the Jet Boaters i know are really nice guys... they work 8-5 just like everyone else.... Jet ski do get on every ones bad side, even mine....They all think they run 80 mph, hell i dont even run 80. GPS on a hot day 59mph with the kids and my girl in the boat,on a cool day with the temp in the 50s 64mph.... Jet boats are the hot rods of the lake ....every guy likes hot rods so you got to see them as that... Only the new war-hawks, Elemators have the same paint jobs and set up but they will run you a few bucks. As you see i am into boating and hot boats, BBQ, and ice cold cheap beer (gas is high) ;D I would like too see some pics of some of the hot boats on this site like different mods ya have done. post them up I know some of ya can shoot a roost with a jack plate installed. A roost will help keep jet skiers away if it is strong enough to blast them. Oh roost is slang for rooster tails. But i dont think you can throw them when you want to, am i right? check out the video i posted up its clean Quote
Ghost Rider Posted March 5, 2007 Author Posted March 5, 2007 These are pctures of our show and shine in the cold rain, we had 25 to 30 boats show up to help raise money for a charity...Some drove as far as 250 miles one way to help out 150kb is kinda small for pictures.... : Quote
squid Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 THE LAKES I FISH ON....JET BOATS DON'T BOTHER THE FISHERMEN....BUT WE ALL HATE(SUCH A STRONG WORD HERE)/DISLIKE JET SKIING KIDS. THEY RUN IN FRONT OF YOU EXPECTING YOU TO GET OUT OF THE WAY, THEY CUT YOU OFF, AND THEY WAKE YOU WHEN YOU ARE TRING TO FISH. WE NOW CARRY A ROD WITH A HEAVY LEAD WEIGHT ON IT IN THE BOAT JUST FOR THOSE PEOPLE. I KNOW...NOT A VERY NICE THING TO DO, BUT HEY, WHEN YOU TELL THEM TO GIVE YA SOME ROOM....HOW MANY MORE TIMES DO YOU LET IT GO ON? THEY ARE JUST LUCKY WE DON'T THROW A TREBLE HOOKED LURE AT THEM. AND IT REALLY GETS ON MY LAST NERVE WHEN THEY FOLLOW YOU ALL OVER THE LAKE. I DO LIKE IT WHEN THE DNR AND THE WATER PATROL ARE OUT ON THE LAKE...BIG FINES FOR PEOPLE LIKE THAT. Quote

Right on! on the jet skiers... I had one jumping my wake way to close to the boat and i was not running top speed just crusing... I threw the roost up on him and he quit real quick but i am olny kicking 400 and i do not have a split bowl yet with a droop snoop so my roost is not that high or long but it a wall of water... I think it is a problem that starts with new boat sales... Most states ESP Texas any one can get behind a wheel or on a jet ski with no stick time (Driving Experience) The water cops all ways check my safety gear ever time i am out on the water.. My famly and any one who rides in my boat will have a vest on. Safety First... Jet boat will stay out of the hydrilla becasue we will have to spend a good 20 mins pulling it out of the pump... we also dont like shallow water due to sand getting in to the block and into the cooling system of the headers. Sand will also get into the jet pump and wear down the seals. i know some OB techs so if ya have any questions on Engines give a buzz on this thread. Quote
Water Dog Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I had a kayaker go by me Saturday splashing water doing some aerobic thing and it aggravated me, don't know what I might reach for if one of those noisy 'look at me' guys came by, , just kidding... ;D Quote
Ghost Rider Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 Now that was funny.... I am debating on what type of engine I will build next year Do I go for speed or engine life or in the middle? Who has the fasted Bass boat? now this has to be GPS I know you got to be the first to hit the hot spot so post up Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 7, 2007 Super User Posted March 7, 2007 You will always find a hotdog that doesnt repsect others on the water. Sad but true. it's like they want the attention or something. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted March 7, 2007 Super User Posted March 7, 2007 Correct me if I'm wrong. BUt I think allison has the fastest bass boat. I know there was a video on the other forum one of allison with a 300HP went well over 100MPH i think it was 120 MPH to be exact. HOwever you cant use 300HP in tournaments. . Not really much point in going over 100 MPH. I'll be happy with a nitro z-9 with 250 going about 80 MPH. ;D Quote

A few guys in my jet boat group run nitro but thats really hard on a engine. I think i am pushing 400 hp right now but there is a weight to power ...big block are heavy..I was thinking of dropping in a Merlin BB and heads.. 830 carb but i kinda leaning to fuel injection....
