logger Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I have a good friend that coach football and baseball with. Yesterday about 10 am his house caught fire. From the sounds of it, it was an electrical fire and a total loss. I have a list of things they need and my wife is out shopping as I write this, and the community is rallying around the family pretty well. Just a terrible week for my friend because saturday the transmission went on his truck. Anyway I just really feel crappy about the whole thing and was hoping you guys could keep the VanWagoner family in your prayers. Oh the incredible thing, his son found out his house burned down and still played in his district basketball game last night and did great! What a tough kid. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Logger, Prayers sent. This has never happened to me (almost once, but we caught the fire in time before it got started good), but I can't imagine what it would be like to start over. God bless, Fisher Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted March 6, 2007 Super User Posted March 6, 2007 Logger My prayers are also with the family. Sounds like no one was hurt, and that is a blessing. K Quote

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Our house burned down twice. 5 years after we rebuilt, it happened again. Imagine the odds. Never saw another house fire in my neighborhood. Prayers sent. Family and pets being safe is the key to focus on here. Quote

tritonman Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Sorry to hear about you friends misfortune. I'm glad to hear their son went on to play, this was good to help clear the mind. As a Fire/Electrical Inspector I see this alot, and what their son did was great for something like this. Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Very sad to hear such a thing, I don't know how I'd be able to cope...Heck, I just about lost my mind when I had a flood last month, I can only imagine what a fire wiping me out would do...My prayers are with your friends... Quote
logger Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 Talked to the son this morning, he's dealing about as well as could be expected. He did mention that he was happy that some of their pictures made it along with his Derek Jeter signed baseball and some other memorabilia. So at least they are finding some stuff that made it. Quote
