Super User 5bass Posted March 4, 2007 Super User Posted March 4, 2007 Randy Couture DOMINATED Tim Sylvia and took the Heavyweight title from him. What a fight....Randy knocked Sylvia down with his first punch but the fight ended up going the distance. Sylvia couldnt do anything with Couture.....total domination. Matt Hughes won his fight and so did Rich Franklin. Hughes will fight the winner of St.Pierre/Serra and Franklin's next fight will be the rematch with Anderson Silva who took his belt a few months ago. Quote
CJ Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 WOW!I didn't expect to see Randy win.Goes to show, you can't ever count him out. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I missed the fights last night but those were my 3 predictions. Glad Randy won. He is a class act. I think he is good for the sport. IMO, if it weren't for Sylvia's reach advantage, with his arms AND legs, he would not even have had the belt.... Not sure if I agree with Hughes and Franklin getting their rematches for the belts so soon but I guess Dana White makes that call. FD Quote
Bream Master Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I'm glad Randy won. He's a real humble guy and after seeing how gentleman like he was in Pros vs Joes, it's kind of hard not to pull for him. The only thing I don't like about him though is that he can't finish fights. A lot of his fights are decisions. A lot of his teammates are the same way. Dan Henderson for example. Great guys, with great skills...just can't finish. Quote
dane1984 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Matt Hughes lives about twenty minutes from where I go to school, and my track coach does promotion stuff for him, so I have been able to meet him, and he couldn't be a nicer guy. Glad to see that he won. dane Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 5, 2007 Author Super User Posted March 5, 2007 Matt Hughes did a great job on Lytle....he didnt finish him off but he dominated and controlled him on the mat for all 3 rounds. Randy did a great job man-handling Sylvia and he beat him in the standup too. Sylvia had the nerve to say in the post fight interview that he came into the fight with an injury and thought it wouldnt affect his performance but that it obviously did. Give me a break. Quote
radiob Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 THE NATURAL WAS DEFINITLY MORE PREPARED FOR LAST NIGHTS FIGHT. IT LOOKED TO ME AS THOUGH SILVIA WAS N'T READY, LIKE HE THOUGHT HE COULD BEAT COUTURE WITH EASE. HE WAS SADLY MISTAKEN. A GREAT NIGHT OF FIGHTING, ALL AROUND. I SERIOUSLY HOPE HUGHES CAN WIN THE TITLE AGAINST G-S-P OR SERRA WHOEVER WINHS THAT FIGHT APRIL 7. THE RADIO GUY Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 5, 2007 Author Super User Posted March 5, 2007 Hughes can pummel Serra one handed but he'll be fighting GSP again.....and he better come out fighting this time or GSP will just kick him in the head again, like he did last time. Hughes is no joke...but neither is GSP. Hughes took him lightly that last fight and GSP dropped the hammer on him. I was in total shock when he flattened Hughes with that head kick in their last fight. Couldnt believe it. Any idea who Couture will fight next? Could be Cro Cop in the near future..... that could be bad for Randy. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 5BL, I agree-it will be Hughes/GSP again. I don't think Serra has what it takes to get past GSP. It is bad news for whoever has to fight Cro Cop! dude is a beast. Quote
logger Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I eneded up seeing the fight by coincedence. They had the fight on at the bar we pulled into. It was a great fight but that first punch was the best. Quote
Hawgin Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Do you guys really think Cro Cop would beat Randy? I agree that he probably has a better all around skill set, but he also seems to have crapped his pants everytime he gets a shot at the belt in Pride. I'm not sure how much you guys follow Pride.
