I joined a local forum a year ago. I made 600 or so posts there since then. Not as a boast, but what I perceive to be ture, I was one of the most active and helpful members on that site, it was my homepage, and I spent hours there daily. It was recently handed over to a new mod that is just too pleased with his new found power, and is running it into the ground. Today I officially ceased posting there because of this. You know how much we all like this place? I like this other one *almost ;)* as much. I'm bummed, but I could stand for it no longer.

Which brings me to my point. Glenn and the Mods here do a TERRIFIC job and I believe that everyone is treated equally and with respect. Have I had posts deleted here? Of course, but they were right to do it and polite enough to send a PM explanation. This place is wonderful and works like a well oiled machine!

If that was too much sucking up, you could always DELETE it  :P LOL

Nope, that was just enough, lol :)

Home is where the heart is. I have alot of friends here now, it's like my clubhouse, lol.

People always ask why I am not in a club and I tell them I am.  I'm in the friendliest, most informative club there is. (we just don't compete against each other. ;) )

I find myself coming to this forum everyday. Even at work I check on whats going on from time to time. Even a couple of the Doctors read some of it while I am on. I do feel like I know some of the guys here in a way. I wanted to write about a recent experience I had here. I got into a small disagreement recently with a member and he PM'ed me. He said he wanted to straighten our differences out, not on the thread, but, between just him and I, without starting a furor. We did, and it was constructive arguing. I thought that it was a class act the way this guy handled our small disagreement. We ended up writing in a civil manner and left, I feel, as friends. Good stuff. Glenn and the mods usually handle some of our heated subjects in a tactful way as well. They let us make our points until it gets d**n near into fisty cuffs and then they step in,lol. Great job guys.

P.S.- Hey Fourbizzle, you suck up !!!  ;) ;D ;D ;D :)

Not just the tech. stuff. The everything else page, broken fins thread, joking with each other and general BS. Almost without exception if someone goes over the line, they step up and apologize or try to make it right. As many of you know it's not anywhere near like that on a lot of sites. Thanks not only go to the folks who keep it running but the members as well ...

Fourbizzle, glad you decided to stay here. You can stop sucking up now. ;)

I'm really glad I stumbled into this place. Wish I'd found it sooner. I've made some new friends I've never met, but hope to some day. I've also learned a lot. You CAN teach this old dog new tricks.

Glenn and the mod's do a superb job. I don't know how this site could be run any better. Every now and then a little heat gets generated, but it always seems to get worked out. It's nice to agree to disagree. I've had to change my mind a couple of times after some of the threads have run their course.

I pop in here just about every day. I don't always post, but I'm here. I miss it if I can't log on. Heck, I'd pay to be a member of this place. ( Now don't go getting any bright ideas, Glenn  ;)) I like hearing about different tactics used in different parts of this country, even different parts of the world. I like to think that we all bring something to the table. It's a wide open mix we have. Older folks, with decades of experience, willing to freely share their hard earned knowledge, and young folks with passion and enthusiasm, all bring something to the mix. All the different perspectives give me new ideas. And there are some real "characters" here.

I wouldn't give this up for any reason.

Cheers,

GK

Skillet makes a good point.

This site is a vision of Glenn's.  The idea to have a bass fishing site that is a family friendly, tutorial/social board isn't a task many would take on.  From day 1, the rules have been enforced with no waivering.  In time,....this is what we got.

My point, however, is that Glenn's vision, and our (mods) supervision, are only an outline.  If the members chose not to stick to it, there would be no BR.

We have set up and maintained a home but if the occupants don't agree with the vision, it falls flat on it's face.

We are just proving to the world that folks from every age, every walk of life, religion, nationality CAN get along. (as long as we don't have to fish against each other, lol)

MEMBERS are what makes a site special.  Glenn just had the intuition to know what kind of site to build that would attract the kind of folks that would make this place different.  NOT alot of sites, fishing or otherwise have a memberbase that participates and interacts together like we do.   We really are one big family here.

Like I said before, why don't I join a bass club?  Because I'm already a member of a bass family!!

Its ok, this place is better anyway.

On another positive note, the Mod I have a problem with nightfishes one of my lakes that you have to fish from shore only. I wouldn't mind having a 3am, middle of nowhere, dark of the moon, "discussion" with him.  ;).

Don't cross the big lanky white kid!
