Fisher of Men Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 After the tough loss to Texas last night, I sure hope your rock chalk Jayhawks bring it and BTH outta TU on Saturday! I just don't think I could stomach seeing them steal the Big 12 title out of both our hands. I'm bummed!! :'( Oh, well. Maybe it was a wake-up call for my Ags. Bring on the Big Dance!! Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 1, 2007 Super User Posted March 1, 2007 That game was INCREDIBLE!!!!! Sorry, I can't say I am disappointed ;D ;D ;D Acie Law is out of this world. That guy needs more pub. I like to think I follow college b-ball pretty closely especially Big 12. I had never even heard of him until the game in Lawrence. Since then I have really been paying attention. No doubt in my mind he is a first team All-American. And then there is Kevin Durant. He gets the pub and deservedly so. I think he should be a first teamer too. Quote
Hawgin Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 FOM- If you're bummed after last night, how bad are you going to feel Saturday after the Tigers steal one from you on your home court? BTW Kevin Durant is probably the best college basketball player I've ever watched, and Law might be one of the most clutch. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Great game I am a lowly ST.Johns fan, I dont know how much longer we can wait to get back on track. Things havent been the same since Lou took his sweaters and retired, Jarvis killed the program Quote
Fisher of Men Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 Hawgin, I think it might have been more likely for your Tigers to upset us if the Ags had won last night. I wonder if we may have overlooked Texas a bit for the Mizzou game. Right now, I will predict a home win for the Ags, just because they need to get that bitter taste of defeat out of their mouths. Honestly, I don't think a win or loss will matter much as a #2 seed in the Big 12 tourney should follow, which is OK. In response to Kevin Durant, yes, I think he's really good, but he needs to complete his game a little on defense. I do think Acie plays with more heart, though. How about his shot over Durant last night? He's got ice in his veins! KU- The more I think about it, I'm not dissapointed either. I'd rather have a weakness exposed now (i.e. transition defense) than in the Big Dance. I think Gillespy still has some work to do. Texas just did what Tech did to us by running down the court before we were set. All I can say is that Big 12 basketball is starting to get the respect it deserves, which is win-win for all of us. Hookem Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hook'em Horns! Loved the game live! But returning home at 2:30am after the party and up at 6am for work...... > : But the ags will go further in the Big T than the Horns! Go Big12! 8-) Quote
Fisher of Men Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Agreed Hookem! Although I've got plenty of students who argue with me, I think the Ag's experience will definitely help them on a neutral floor. If the horns can get a big man to replace Durant and some depth from the bench, they should be alright. Augustin really has shown some improvement this year and it looks like Abrams has a pretty solid outside jumper. Get another guy or two to pound the boards and you guys will stay competitive. Quote
Hawgin Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Yeah, I'm afraid you are right that after that loss last night I expect the Aggies to be looking to prove a point on Sat. However I hope to catch them down after such an emotional and draining game. After a double OT battle maybe our pressing and up tempo style can wear them down late, we just have to stay in the game long enough for that to be the case. Law has a ton of heart, and is definitely a great player. He's the type of guy that will be overlooked in the draft because he doesn't have all of the intangibles, but after a 10 year career as a winner in the pros everyone will be trying to figure out how he lasted so long on draft night. As for Durant, if refining his D is the biggest knock on him that just shows how good he is. He was just as clutch in that game as Law was in my opinion. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 The A&M/Texas game was one of the best games I have watched all year. Safe to say my Mizzou Tigers are on the outside looking in but I think the Big 12 has shot at a 5 teams going to the dance. KU, Texas, A&M - lock. Tech is on the bubble. OK State or K State could sneak in but it is a long shot. I gotta go with Durant being not only the best player in the conference, he would get my vote for player of the year. If his defense is the weak part of his game, he has a strong game.....IMO Depending on how the bracket lays out, I can see TX doing more damage in the Big Dance than A&M or KU. again, IMO Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 . If his defense is the weak part of his game, he has a strong game.....IMO No kidding. They had enough confidence in him to put him on Law down the stretch Quote
