Alright, as i'm looking at this picture of you, it's starting to look more and more like your wearing the old royal blue Boston Red Sox hat.  Members and Met's fans, judge for yourself.

ANY ONE BORN IN THE EARLY 50'S AND HAD A DAD WHO CLOSED THE FAMILY STORE TO ATTEND ALL HOME GAMES AT EBBETS FIELD KNOWS THE REAL DODGERS CAME FROM BROOKLYN

THEIR NAME WAS NOT ORIGINALLY THE DODGERS THAT WAS THEIR FANS NAME>> THE ORIGINAL TEAM PLAYED OFF 4 TH AVE IN SOUTH BROOKLYN AND THE FANS HAD TO DODGE THE TROLLEYS TO CROSS THE STREET TO GET IN THE PARK

THEY BROKE MY DAD'S HEART WHEN THEY MOVED, WE WERE NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO SAY O MALLEYS NAME IN THE HOUSE TILL THE DAY MY DAD PASSED AWAY >:(

Muddy's right, that's a Brooklyn Dodgers hat!  My uncle was playing for them before and after they moved out of Brooklyn.  He probably ate at Muddy's fathers place (small world huh).  My uncle often told me of the little local eating places he really liked to visit wherever he played.

It seemed that the Dodgers and the Yankees were always in the world series in the 50tys.  We used to watch the games with the neighbors since we didn't have a TV.

Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, I think that I am right on those players for the Dodgers. Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle for the Yankees.  Duke played Centerfield and always seemed to make those impossible catches.  Was it six world series during that period.  Those are the ones that I remember anyway.  Willie Mays was with the NY Giants, Centerfield belonged to Duke and Mays with Mickey just being Mickey.

The game never was quite the same after the fifties with the Dodgers leaving.

Even this Yankee fan and guy who grew up in NYC will back up Muddy on this one! The Mets actually adopted the Dodger blue and put the Giants orange NY logo on the cap. I presume it was to draw back the jilted NL fans after the Dodgers and Giants moved west. My Dad was a Giants fan but after they left it was just the Yankees between 1959 and 1964 so we became Yankee fans and never looked back. I was only 7 when they moved so I've been loyal to the pistripes for 47 years now. I don't think the Brooklyn folks could ever give in to the hated Bronx Bombers so Muddy had no choice but to jump on the Amazins bandwagon when they arrived.

I feel bad for Muddy though.....he'd look much better in a Yankee cap and his girlfriend would be much happier with him

That's cool.  I love history when it's on a more personal level.

I stand defeated, all hail Muddy, for he is a true baseball fan!  (The Mets do still play baseball, right?)
