Subject: Never Lie to Mom

Brian Hester invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of

the meal, Brian's mother couldn't help but keep noticing how beautiful

Brian's roommate, Stephanie, was.  Mrs. Hester had long been suspicious

of a relationship between Brian and his roommate, Stephanie, and this

had only made her more curious.

Over the course of the evening, while watching the two react, Mrs.

Hester started to wonder if there was more between Brian and his

roommate, Stephanie, than met the eye.  Reading his mom's thoughts,

Brian volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you

Stephanie and I are just roommates."

About a week later, Stephanie came to Brian saying, "Ever since your

mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful silver

gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?" Brian said, "Well,

I doubt it, but I'll send her an e-mail just to be sure."

So he sat down and wrote:

"Dear Mother,

I'm not saying that you "did" take the gravy ladle from the house, I'm

not saying that you "did not" take the gravy ladle.  But the fact

remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.

Love, Brian"

The next day, Brian received an email from his mother that read:

"Dear Son,

I'm not saying that you "do" sleep with Stephanie, and I'm not saying

that you "do not" sleep with Stephanie.  But the fact remains that if

she was sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the gravy ladle

by now. Love, Mom" :o

Very true, they always know. I remember a time when I was a teen and was flabbergasted by what my Mom knew. My brother (who was around 17 at the time) co-owned a beer keg. He drove a four wheel drive truck and kept the keg (inside a trash can) in the back of the truck under the tool box. I knew about it, but never said anything. I had my own secrets to keep, too. ;) For awhile my brother would unload the keg and keep it behind the shrubs on the side of our house. I was outside one day after my brother left with another friend when the co-owner drove up and asked if my brother was here. Not knowing, I went inside to ask my Mom. When I went in and asked, she said,"Oh, does T.C. want the beer keg?" I jumped back about 10 feet in my mind. What I (and probably my brother) thought was a secret, she knew. Two years later, my mom died of cancer. Through my grandmother, dad, and some of my mom's friends I've found out that she knew alot more about us than we ever imagined. There's alot of truth to that old song, "Mama Knows". I don't know how they know, but they do.

P.S. Men, if you have children, your wife possesses this ability too. So, look out!!  :o

"All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother." -- Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)

When I was a youngster I found this quote by Lincoln, wrote it down on a piece of paper and placed it in a crack in the wall next to the chimney hoping that someone would find it when the house was torn down someday. Lincoln's words were true. Some other quotes.

"God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers." -- Jewish proverb

"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother." -- Lin Yutang

"The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness." -- Honore' de Balzac (1799-1850)

"My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her." -- George Washington (1732-1799)

"By and large, mothers and housewives are the only workers who do not have regular time off. They are the great vacationless class." -- Anne Morrow Lindbergh (1907- )

"The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom." -- Henry Ward Beecher (1813-1887)

"Youth fades; love droops, the leaves of friendship fall; A mother's secret hope outlives them all." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes (1809-1894)

"I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." -- Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)

"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother." --Author Unknown

No matter how hard you try you can never slip anything past your mother.
