I was loooking at some Oakley polarized sunglasses today and noticed they have alot of tints most others do not such as black iridium(one of the ones I was interested in), bronze, etc.  Does anyone know how these tints compare to other tints such as amber, green, etc.  Especially the black tint.  Thanks

I can't tell you how they compare to other lenses.  But I can say they are awesome sunglasses. I just got a pair the other day with the black tint and love them. You won't be dissapointed.

I work outside most of the time.  About 15 years ago I started wearing Oakley sunglasses.  One of the smartest moves I have made.  Stupid expensive but IMHO worth every hundred :)  My fishing glasses are polarized black iridium M-frames.  The M-frame is not as cool looking as some other styles but they keep the wind out while running across the lake.  They are great with the only drawback being early morning, late afternoon, and cloudy days.  I need to get an amber lens for those times, just haven't done it yet.  You will be very happy with the Oakleys.

i bought the half jacket xlj's in the fall for $70 off ebay and i don't have any complaints. i have the fire colored lenses and they work well. i actually stepped on my glasses when i was out fishin in december. the lenses fell out, but i put 'em back easily and the glasses were as good as when i bought em.

I have the Oakley Juliets, which cost me $370.  They have the orange/amber polarized lens that I use for fishing.  I now wish I got the black/smoke iridium lens.  It's better for glare on the water, where as the orange lens is better for driving on the highways.

Also go with a dark colored lens when used for fishing.

I also have the half jackets. The black iridium are nice. I used to have a pair of nice solar bats until they broke. The black is not as good on overcast days as a color like the Solar Bat amber. I do have another color I can throw in but generally the black are just fine. If you should be looking at the halfjackets I would advise on getting the xlj's because otherwise the lens on the halfjackets are kinda small. The black is nice overall and they look really good too.

Does anyone know of a good Oakley tint thats a good all around tint like Amber is?  If not I guess I might just buy a $50 pair of amber glasses to wear when the Oakleys won't work well.

I'll have to try one of my other colors over the next few days and see if I can give you any info. Unfortunately, with the snow I'm not sure I'll really get to try anything other than my black. Oakley should have a color that would be pretty good. I do believe that they list when it is good to use each lens color. Like I posted before the black has been really good basically anytime I would want to use them. Which frame style are you looking at?

I have Oakley M frames with Blue iridium lenses. Bought them back in college for playing baseball and put them back in service when I started fishing. They are kind of falling apart now being that they are so old but the lenses were great. The blue isn't great in lower light but the rest of the time they have been just fine.
