bassin_man Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Has anyone ever registered their bank account with paypal in order to transfer fund back into your bank account from paypal? Did you have any problems yet? I have about $200 that I would much rather have in my account than in paypal but am a little leery of putting down all my checking account information. I guess in reality its no different than having my card registered on there for purchases. I was looking at getting a check but it says expect 3-4 weeks for delivery. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 9, 2007 Super User Posted February 9, 2007 No problems for me in the 3 or so years I have had it. Just DO NOT RESPOND to emails you get from "PayPal" asking for your info. They may look official, but they are not!!!! Quote
cabela10 Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 It's 100% secure. Put all your information on paypal. It's an instant transfer. Been dealing with paypal for over 6 years and never ever had a problem with them through ebay. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 PAY PAL HAD A PRETTY SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE NOT TOO LONG AGO THEY TRY REAL HARD BUT ANYTIME YOU PUT YOUR INFO ON LINE YOU TAKE A RISK. I DO THIS WITH SOME OF MY UTILITY BILLS AND BPS AND CABELAS, IT IS STILL A RISK :-/ i WAS GONN USE PAYPAL TIL A COMPUTER GUY SHOWED ME THIS http://www.paypalwarning.com/ Quote
cabela10 Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Anyone can create a webpage and bad mouth another person, doesn't mean it's accurate. I have never heard of anything about paypal on any major news station like CNN or MSNBC. Those stations would talk about this type stuff and take it very seriously. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 THAT PAGE ONLY ONE EXAMPLE>>>> OUR COMPUTERS ARE PART OF THE FEDERAL COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND WE CANT GO PLACES BECAUSE OF THE HOMESTEAD ACT. I DO NOT KNOW A LOT ABOUT COMPUTERS AND BY THE WAY IF YOU GOOGLE PAY PAL SECURITY PRIOBLEMS YOU WILL FIND THE MASS MEDIA COVERAGE OF SAID PROBLEMS OUR COMPUTER EXPERT IS ALWAYS ON THE MONEY OUR COMPUTERS HAVE PAYPAL BLOCKED AT WORK B/C THEY DO NOT HAVE TO FOLLOW REGULAR BANKING RULES AND PROCEDURES AND ARE LISTED AS A MAJOR SECURITY RISK Quote
cabela10 Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I have never heard anything on the tv about paypal security issues and you would think it would come up since so many people rely on it. All I'm saying is, that I've never heard of anyone have issues with paypal and I have never had any problems with using paypal. Paypal is the #1 used money transfer system for ebay and you would think this issue would be talked about with millions of people using it. Muddy, I just did a yahoo search "paypal security issues" and nothing worthwhile came up. You can't really take a site called www.paypalwarning.com seriously. They made a site with paypals name in it. Come on, give me a break. Other than that, no other site that came up on the first page had any recognition. It's like the National Enquirer. As you should know, if the issue was real, the search would have top websites like CNN or MSNBC #1 through #5. Another site that was #8 in the search results was called www.paypalsucks.com COME ON! Super User cart7t Posted February 9, 2007 Super User Posted February 9, 2007 As stated, never respond to emails about your paypal account. Never leave money in your paypal account. I withdraw immediately. Paypal will withdraw from your bank account instantly on purchases but deposits from PP to your account take up to 4 days....hmmm.... > If you're a seller, Paypal rarely rules in the favor of the seller regardless of how fishy the buyers story sounds. That part of the equation isn't good but I've only had a couple disputes in 2 years of active selling. Other than that I've had no problems in 4 years of having an account. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I actually try to keep alot in paypal. You need to sign up for the money market. It is up around 5%. I dont know a bank that pays that. More $ = more lures To answer your question yes I do, and transfer funds all the time back and forth. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 OK I stand corrected ABOUT THE SOURCE I USED. I am new to the cyber world and this has been an issue for the research I do for my online classes Thank god the college I go to has a site for Peer Reviewed Articles, which is what I always use for school I need to use more caution when Im looking for stuff on net myself! That article was posted on our in house Bullentin boards by a co worker who had a bad experience with Pay Pal How ever our computer security desk person said PAYPAL is blocked from our system BECAUSE THEY RAMPANTLY ALLOW THE USE OF TROJAN WORMS to do this phishing thing I DO NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THAT MEANS???? He said basically they pour unwanted Spam into the system but also they can get and sell this info WITHOUT YOU EVEN KNOWNING IT; WHERE YOU GO TO BUY STUFF,NAME ADDDRESS AND PHONE #, ACCOUNT #,THINGS YOU BUY AND MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN BUYING AND EXCEPT FOR AN ITEM CALLED PAYPAL VIRTUAL ECARD THEY CAN ALSO TELL YOUR ACCT #'S, HOW MUCH IS IN THEM AND WHAT YOU SPEND WITH A GIVEN MERCHANT. Now all that may seem like harmless info for other merchants to buy I AINT COMFORTABLE with all that So my souce was wrong I admit that and I have learned something I also have leArned that it is better to teach someone through kindeness than RUDENESS enough said about that last sentence Quote
paparock Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I set up a seperate account that I only use for pay pal at a seperate bank from where I do all my other banking. In the year I have been using it I have experienced zero problems so far. Quote
Bluecraw Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I had a BAD experience with Paypal, so I only use them through a separate bank account other than my personal account. We had some CRAZY lady complain about a transaction and we refunded her money and everything...even let her keep the merchandise. Well, Paypal "froze" our Paypal account until they could "investigate" the issue. We couldn't get our money (approx. $2,000) out of the account for 9 months!! They have WAY too much control! Quote

If so, I didn't mean to be. I hope this wasn't refering to me. Quote
