Valascus Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 It's stupid cold out. The Meramec river is starting to ice up on the banks and it rarely does that. Yaargh... and I was hoping back in December to start taking the boat back out around now. Haaa! I was driving with the wife to the grocery store on Saturday and we had to cross over the MO River at the Page Extension heading into St. Peters. The river appeared to be moving, so I didn't really think much about it. But, when we were on our way home, you could see the low sun reflecting off the thin sheet of ice that appeared to cover MOST of the MO River that I could see from the bridge. Now THAT is freakin' cold. I HATE @#$%&!@ WINTERTIME!!!!!!!!! > Quote
bassboy1 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 We are freezing our butts off here. The high today was in the upper 50's, and the low was in the upper 40's. BRRRRRRRRR. These past two weeks are the coldest it has gotten all winter. Last Thursday we had a "snow day" from school. The little bit of slush in the gutters, when it was 35 degrees outside at 5 am, is enough to close the schools and many other businesses 'round here. Quote
Guest avid Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 It's so cold that the girls on South Beach are hiding bullets in their bikini tops. Quote
justfishin Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Well Avid, sometimes, as the old saying goes, you just have to " bite the bullet ". Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 How cold? Although the temps say -15, it really isn't feeling like it. I work outdoors all day, the right layers and it's fine. Add the sun and all is good. It is darn cold though, numbers-wise. Watch Hill Yacht club is officially iced in. That is saltwater! Quick pic from my favorite waterfall yesterday. Misquamicut Beach, looking right. You can see the Watch Hill Lighthouse, located on Napa tree point, the southernmost tip of RI. Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 2/6/07 6:30 AM 9 degrees, -2 with wind chill in my home town, but, tonight when I go up to Killington VT they're saying highs in the mid teens all week. Yahoo! Finally cold enough to get some decent snow! Sorry, I'm still in skiing mode, don't wanna even think about spring yet...LET IT SNOW!!!! Quote
justfishin Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Dog gone it LBH, that waterfall pic just turned my nice hot cup of morning " Stash brand Chai Tea " into iced tea. Nice pics. Quote

Zel Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 It's so cold out there that lawyers are putting their hands in their own pockets. It was -2 degrees in my back yard at 6:00 AM today. Well, I guess it's like Dr. Timothy Ball (who was the first Canadian Ph.D. in Climatology and has an extensive background in climatology, especially the reconstruction of past climates and the impact of climate change on human history and the human condition. a Ph.D, Doctor of Science from the University of London, England and who was a climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg.) forsees that we're due for a global cooling. "Temperatures declined from 1940 to 1980 and in the early 1970's global cooling became the consensus. This proves that consensus is not a scientific fact. By the 1990's temperatures appeared to have reversed and Global Warming became the consensus. It appears I'll witness another cycle before retiring, as the major mechanisms and the global temperature trends now indicate a cooling." Good reading... http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/global-warming020507.htm Quote
