Siebert Outdoors Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Any of you home owners might want to check your heating/electric/water bills. I received a water bill for approx 160 bucks. It said I used 1400 gallons for the month of January. I said there is no way so I called them up. Come to find out they estimated my usage. Well after they fixed my bill it was 25 dollars. Just me living in my house. Here is the better part. I call up my buddy and told him the story because I was mad, and remembered he told me how redicoulous the price of water was. Well he was being estimated too. Instead of one month like me he has been overpaying for about 5-6 months by about 75 dollars each month. So I strongly suggest you guys check your bills with your meters. Like my buds he has paid for about 3800 gallons of water he hasnt used yet. Some of you guys that have owned a home for along time might find a lottery jack pot. Just an FYI. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Iam going to have to tell the grandparents that. But it might not work. Were we live the villege totals the water use for every one. Then at the end of the month they bill you. It dosnt matter if you only used water for showers ans getting a drink every ones bills are 100 plus. And druing the summer is when its the worst. Quote
Valascus Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 We just recently had this happen to us. Our water bill is normally pretty low, but it suddenly spiked to like $70. We immediately called the Water company and they said the bill was estimated. They sent a technician out to gte an accurate reading and found that we owed far less. Since we had already paid our bill they offered a credit on our next bill that would reflect the correction that should have appeared on the previous bill. Also, I don't know who anyone else gets their water from, but the company we go through (Missouri American Water) is offering a free installation of an outdoor meter so that you don't have to read your meter to them every month. Instead thay can sned a technian over monthly to get an accurate read and eliminate any threat of estimated bills. (or so they say... :) Quote
Super User Marty Posted February 7, 2007 Super User Posted February 7, 2007 We get billed quarterly and read our own meters here. Maybe you should inquire if your company offers that option for meter reads. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 When i was growing up in Brooklyn a bookie named FRANKIE THE NOSE would give you an estimated bill, It was always the smarter thing to pay it ;D ;D ;D Quote
