Be sure to pass it on. http://www.petakillsanimals.com/article_detail.cfm?article=154 You will also find more infromation at the linked site. Quote
paparock Posted February 3, 2007 Author Posted February 3, 2007 Do petitions ever work? If enough people sign them then sometimes they can bring about change but I guarantee they work better than wishing someone else would do something about the problem. I think of it kind of like voting. Will your vote really make a difference? When you cast your vote you are never sure but then some elections have turned on only a handful of votes. But if you do not care enough to cast a vote then for sure yours was wasted. Quote
Tom Bass Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I sent mine in. I despise PETA as well as The Sierra Club and Green Peace. Quote

I think of it kind of like voting. Will your vote really make a difference? When you cast your vote you are never sure but then some elections have turned on only a handful of votes. But if you do not care enough to cast a vote then for sure yours was wasted. These are good points. The vote is the best way to get your point accross. Snail mail written letters are next best. Phone calls, and emails are next Then petitions. Basically it comes down to the more effort that goes into the statement the more weight it carries. I forget the exact number but there is a "rule of thumb" that says something like "for every written letter actually delievered there are 10 other people who feel the same way." The same thinking also applies to petitions, it takes virtually no effort to sign one and in fact many people sign petitions to "keep the peace" with the neighbor or friend who is passing it around. So by all means sign the petition but then follow it up with a letter sent via the post office. Then vote. Quote
