squid Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WINTER.... :'( BASS SATURDAY IS NOW THE WORST THING ON ESPN!! AND IT DOESN'T EVEN GO FROM 7 - 11:30 ANYMORE. I ENJOYED EVERY EPISODE THE FIRST SEASON. WHEN THEY GOT RID OF THE GOOD SHOWS THEY WENT DOWN HILL FROM THERE. BRING BACK LOUDMOUTH BASS...BASS TECH.... jdw174 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 About the only thing running right now is Day On The Lake and Bassmaster reruns. They have a couple of others to bring in around April when DOTL runs it's course, but that's pretty much all you're gonna see from ESPN. If you really want to see some good bass shows, make sure you get The Bass Pros and Aaron Marten's Bass Edge. Both of these run on Outdoor channel or the Versus channel (can't remember which right now.). Also, make sure you keep an eye out for this season's Ultimate Match Fishing. This year they're going to be matching BASS anglers against FLW stars. Should be a great season. Quote
squid Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 I MIGHT WATCH THE MATCH FISHING....THAT SOUNDS COOL Quote
Zel Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Lets face it, Bass Saturday evolved out of ESPN's purchase of BASS. And ESPN/BASS has been running rudderless for almost 6 months now. I really don't know if there is someone out there who has the correct mix of business and fishing savvy, and charisma (other than maybe Ray Scott or Dave Precht) to right the ship because of all the business ventures involved in the ESPN/BASS relationship (Tournaments, Magazines, Federation, TV and Production, etc, etc). There is just so much for that individual, or individuals, to overcome at the present time due to past miscues at the top level of the organization. There is also the problem with perceived longevity both for the individual and BASS itself 3 people have headed BASS in less than 4 years. Personally, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot push pole, but I do hope they can overcome their current problems. They do have so much potential, and so much that they can offer bass anglers with the right person in charge. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 That first season was really special.I don't even bother checking it out anymore.Someone posted that the Versus channel was airing some great bassing shows. They are right. I was watching it the other night, and it was show after show of good fishing programs. Quote
squid Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE VERSUS CHANNEL BEFORE.. :-? :-? Quote
logger Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 How can they even call it BASS Saturday??! I just set the timer on my sattelite last night and there are only 3 fishing shows on this Saturday! :-? I may just sleep in. What a joke! Shame on you ESPN BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! > > Quote
BassChaser57 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Versus is the old Outdoor Channel and you should have it on most packages--look for it --it is a good channel. 8-) Quote
squid Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 HUMMMMMM :-?...MY CABLE SUCKS..... 8-) Quote

Super User Dan: Posted January 26, 2007 Super User Posted January 26, 2007 Versus is by far the best channel for fishing shows. I don't get it at school, but I have my tivo at home set to record almost all of the shows while I'm gone. That way when I go back home to visit, I can catch up on hours and hours of bass shows. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 27, 2007 Super User Posted January 27, 2007 The only bad thing about the fishing shows on Vs is that they run the same episodes four or five times a week. I have my DVR set up to record all showings of Bill Dance Outdoors, Fishing with Roland Martin, On the Water with Hank Parker, The Bass Pros, and so on and so forth. I usually end up deleting about half of them without watching. BDO is the worst for this. At least they show a good variety of Roland's shows. Quote
Danceswithbass Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I guess the good old days of viewing fishing shows on the channel that owns the largest fishing organization is too much to ask. What was wrong with Beat Charlie Moore, Basscenter, Loudmouth, and BASS. Bass tech was even good sometimes. Thank goodness for Vs channel or we would be screwed. Quote

But still, it's better than what you get anywhere else. Quote
cabela10 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 If you watch Versus (formely OLN) you should record Anglers Edge with Al Lindner. The guy is amazing and it's usually a different show every week. He actually teaches you techniques and where to use each. It's a must watch. Quote

I personally can't stand the show but others might like it. The guy isn't the Elite Series Aaron Marten's. It's Aaron Martin. Different spelling. Might even by part of Rowland Martin's family, I'm not sure. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 28, 2007 Super User Posted January 28, 2007 agreed on the Lindner's Angling Edge, cabela10. That show is great. I've seen most of em. The only thing I don't like is how often they do walleye stuff. I do, however love how often they also do smallmouth shows. The Aaron Martin Show is ok(besides his laugh), it's the Scott Martin show that I didn't like. It's called The Scott Martin Challenge and he is Roland's son. Quote
cabela10 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 c312, the thing with Al Lindner and us Minnesota Boys. No matter what, walleyes will be our first love. I've been doing bass tournaments for over 4 years now, but I will never pass up a opportunity to go walleye fishing. Al is a great Pike guy too. Carp, you name it, that guy can catch'em. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 28, 2007 Super User Posted January 28, 2007 Oh, I can understand why he has so many shows with walleye, it has something to do with his funny accent. ;D But seroiusly, I don't care what kind of fish he fishes for in his shows, it's just that I DON'T fish for walleyes so I don't find those segments interesting, that's all. I did see his carp segment though, that was a good episode. I also like to watch James and Dan Sura catch those big ol' muskies and pikes (they seem to fish for them more often than Al) I also like how Al tries to send a christian message at the end of the show. All in all, one of my dream fishing trips would be to go smallie fishing on a small river with both James and Al. They certainly know how to catch smallies. Quote
cabela10 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 True true. He doesn't push products in the show either, it's all about teaching people things, thats what I like. Quote
