It seems that when I access this site lately it gets slower and s-l-o-w-e-r.........

What gives? I have a cable modem and I swear, I have stepped back into to stone age when I try to access this site. Is there a problem?

Can I make a donation to help fix this? Do we need a bigger server? more bandwidth?  and what would it take to speed things up?

I'll put in my fair share.

I'm not trying to badmouth, just looking for a cure.

Regards,

Tom

I've got adelphia highspeed and I too also notice it seems to be kind of slow...

It takes about 10 seconds before a single page shows up, it might also be because there's a lot of disk space that has been taken up on my computer and my computer is taking longer time to load everything...

I swear I need to delete some unneeded and unwanted programs that way the computer isn't so crammed with junk...that might speed it up...

try and see if there is a lot of hard drive space taken up due to programs that you've downloaded onto your computer, if you have a crap load of programs loaded onto it, those 'junk' will certainly slow down your computer to some extent...

Good luck  8-)

I've experienced a big delay in page loadings also lately.  The past month or so has been an issue.  I also have comcast internet and all other pages from other sites load normally, but BR is struggling.

Sometimes the page is slow for me, sometimes it is fine. Could be traffic, could be an unstable server, could be our own connections being busy....Hard to tell.

Guys, Due to our usual late winter growth and a member base that doesn't just sign up and go away but actually stays and posts,.....we have maxxed our bandwidth limits.

Glenn, as usual, ponied up the loot and has expanded yet again to make the site even faster than before. What a dude.

This brings me to another point. I have been telling Glenn that it's common practice to have a "donation" button somewhere on the main page. He has always been dead set against it. Tacky is the term, but I said that I only think it's tacky if it's like a 1/3 page banner, lol, a small button, discreetly loaded on the main page is not IMO. I just know that I would gladly throw a sawbuck his way when things get tough as I know many of the members would. I just think it's crazy for him to come out of pocket everytime we get TOO POPULAR,lol.

Contrary to popular beliefs, the advertisors, only help to offset the cost of running a site with this much traffic, Glenn often pays for upgrades on his own. I, personally, want to send him a little somthing whether theres a button for it or not.

Glenn, please don't be upset that I put this out there, I think you just need to see the amount of support we have for you and how much we all appreciate everything you do here. We say it all the time, how about a button so we can prove it and help you out a little.

Opinions?

I am not surprised by the explanation. During non-peak times I have had no problems.

This site provides me with a lot of entertainment and information, and I would be happy to kick in a few bucks to keep it working smoothly.

I would definitely support the site with a donation. This is a great site and and anything I can do to help maintain it or make it better, I'll gladly help. :)

LBH,

You've said nothing that hasn't been said before...  many of us have posted that we want to donate!  I understand Glenn's position but hope to see some avenue to contribute, one day soon.

Glenn, no saying it's extra work!  Surely one little "button" that links to paypal couldn't be that hard to set up.   ;)

If Glenn's against donations, maybe he could sell GYCB Senkos and Fat Ikas on this site to generate revenues.  I know I'd buy them from here (as long as solid black is offered).  But then again it might be too much of a hassle.

Hmmm...BassResource.com baitstore.

That's an awesome idea, I dont know how the sponsors would look at it though.

Even if you get a dollar here and a dollar there, Glenn, its for the sake of the site. Its not a mandatory "membership fee" is a voluntary contribution.

I know plenty of times when I loaned friends a few dollars for something....just consider it like that. We loan you a few dollars for continuing to run a great site.

Count me in. IMO I would like for him to put a yearly membership fee on.

Well, there is a 99.999999998 % chance that will NEVER happen. We will be hard pressed to let the head honcho allow us to help, maybe different donation levels could get certain status. Thinking out loud here, like I said, the guy's heart is too big sometimes. Boss, you listening? This is a forum of the people, by the people and for the people and the people WANT TO HELP!!

Don't make us beg you to give you some money, that would remind me too much of dating, lmao.

I do know that one thing you can do to help RIGHT NOW would be to buy somthing from the store.  Glenn took a beating on that gear let's not make him eat any more of it.  Order up!!

I spend $15.00 for 11 issues of Bassmasters, and I don't get near the information and entertainment that I get from this site...............I'M IN.
