UFC 66....Liddell vs Ortiz II

Well,its over folks. Chuck took it to Tito again......Tito brought his A game,took some big punches and really showed alot of heart but he couldnt get Chuck to the ground and was forced to slug it out.....and that didnt go so well. Chuck knocked him down and started pounding on him,the ref had to stop it.

In the other main fight,Keith Jardine tko'd Forest Griffin,pretty much the same way the Chuck/Tito fight went down. That really surprised me because of the way Griffin took it to Tito in their last fight. (Many thought Griffin won that one,including me)

All the fights were great. My buddy was mad that the reff stoped the the liddell ortiz fight. He really wanted ortiz to win. But like you said ortiz couldn't get it to the ground. I have a felling that there will be a rematch.

I have to agree.  Almost every fight was awesome.  I disagreed with stoppage of the Tito/Chuck fight.  Chuck was basically pounding on Tito's arm the whole time, with a couple shots reaching the head.  No doubt those hurt him, but not enough to stop the fight.  Right when the ref stepped in to stop it, Tito made a spinning move onto his back to try to get better position to defend, but the ref. stopped it.  Oh well.  Was a great night of fights.  Tito will just train harder and be back even stronger.  I too think there will be another rematch, maybe not for a while, but there will be one.  Chuck is starting to get up there in age and will start to slow down a little.  One shot gets through and he could be done for.

Tito landed quite a few hard shots to Chuck's face last night and it didnt affect Chuck at all.You could see the lumps on Chuck's face after the fight but when he got hit,it seemed like he didnt feel them.....thats why he's the Champ. I thought Tito did a whale of a job even though he lost. I think Chuck has to fight Rampage Jackson next.....he's beaten Chuck before.

Im so glad Liddell won...Tito runs his mouth WAY too much...thats why I dont like him. When he first came out I liked him...than he got cocky. Personally though I dont even think Ortiz showed up at that fight. His stand up did not improve since his last fight. Although Chucks defense was awesome so that had alot to do with the way the fight went. I do think Chucks reign is coming to an end soon. I was shocked that Griffin lost...oh well Jardines cool. How about Cro Cop...cant wait!!!!!!! BTW the Liddell fight was defnitely stopped way short...this is NOT boxing...take a look at the mat once in awhile.

Yes, that was one of the better UFC's in a while.  All were good fights.  

Thought that if Liddell didn't knock Tito out in the first round, the odds of him winning went WAAAAY down.  Felt that if Liddell didn't take him out by the second round, for sure Tito would win it - his Cardio is amazing from what I have seen.  Really thought the longer it went Oritiz would win it by TKO or decision - obvious why I am not an announcer or analyst.  I just did not think Liddell could hang with Tito the longer it went.  Liddell was starting to look winded, but, he did what champions do - amazing guy.  Tito landed some nice punches and it looked like it didn't even phase him (Liddell).  I really like both of those guys, but like Liddell the best.  I did not like Tito at all until watching him coach on UFC 4.  He is absolutely one of the best coaches I have ever seen.

The Jardine v Griffin fight surprised me.  I really thought Griffin would take that one.  Especially after the showing with Ortiz - thought he beat Ortiz as well.

Looking forward to UFC 67.

Tim Sylvia And Liddell should be currently trying to find a way to relinquish their belts.  When Mirko Fillipovic (Cro-Cop) hits UFC it will never be the same.  He will make UFC look like the WWE.  Nobody is ready for him.  He will eliminate Sylvia in 220 plus.  Then drop down to 205 and dessimate Liddell.  Anyone here who also follows K1 or Pride knows that I speak the truth.  It is going to be quite exciting when he gets here!

ortiz is a punk but they shouldnt have called the fight quite yet....if the ref let it go in the first round then why did he stop it in the third....he was totally protecting himself, all liddell  was hitting was his arms....maybe got in one or two good hits....but i thought the griffin fight was the best, he got his head knocked around a bit....bounce bounce bounce, dude his poor head

It was a great night of fights for sure. One of the best UFC fight nights for sure.

I thought the stopage was a little premature too, especially since he let it go on in the first round, and Tito didnt really seem hurt. But its to late for that now. I am glad Liddell won.

I really thought Forest was gonna win that fight. But man was I wrong. That was probably the best fight of the night though.

I sure hope they continue with the great undercard fights.

Agreed!  Wanderlai Silva was unstoppable in Pride for two or three years.  He looked like an amateur when he fought Cro-Cop.  UFC is in serious trouble.

The UFC announced tha both Mirko Cro Crop and Quinton Rampage Jackson  will be on the fight card for UFC 67 feb. 3  Guess we'll all get to see what these guys are all about and if they can make it in the octagon.  Obviouslly the UFC is setting up a Rampage/Liddle rematch and a Cro Cop/Sylvia Fight. I cant wait for both of these.  Jackson has already beeat Liddle early in his career with the fight being stopped by liddel's corner.  We'll see how far Rampage has come from then.  Cro Cop/Sylvia will be a battle. One you will have to be crazy to say you pick a winner. Cro Cop is extremeley agressive and has ridiculous kickboxing skill but sylvia is a mountian of a man and it seems his skills improve with every fight.  Sylvia has neturalized almost all his opponets recently with the exception of orlofski's luck knee-bar.  Both these fights should be on cards by fall of this year I would presume.

Just my two cents and 2007 is going to be a great year for MMA

Jackson vs Liddell will be a  great fight, but CroCop will take Sylvias head off without breaking a sweat...according to Sylvias last three fights it seems he has lost the ability to to be competitive.

Sylvia is a bum, the HW division of the UFC is chumps.  Cro Cop will destroy them.  Rampage v. Liddel should be good, jackson is a good wrestler.  I cant wait for teh infusion of all of these leagues.

First off, my condolences to Sylvia's family.  Sylvia is  going to be wiped off the planet by Mirko CC, and even though Liddell is my boy, he's just not gonna be any match to Mirko's kickboxing skills.  No matter how much punishment Liddell can take, no person can stand after a blow to the head that MCC delivers.  It's over.  Cro-Cop is going to rule UFC for awhile.

I must be the only one that thinks Tito beat Forest in that fight. I thought Tito crushed him that first round, BIG TIME. Forest did come back, but He didn't do enough damage to win the fight. If it would have went two more rounds I think Forest would have beat him.

I would love to see a rematch between RAMPAGE and Liddel. RAMPAGE made it look way to easy their first fight. My moneys on Rampage.

Would like to see Mileninko(spelling) cross over to the UFC. He would dominate even more so than Cro-Cop. If I remember correctly he beat Cro-Cop at one time.  The UFC needs some new faces for sure. Especially in the heavy weight division.

Yeah,Sylvia wouldnt be jack if he wasnt so tall and his arms weren't 20 ft long each. You could take a 25 minute nap and not miss anything during one of Sylvia's fights. I'll be glad to see the belt get taken from him and so would Dana White although he probably wouldnt admit it. The UFC has to schedule 2 title fights on PPV when Sylvia fights just to get enough people to buy it.

Liddell could fight CroCop if CroCop comes down to 205,which I feel like he could. Rampage beat Liddell before but that was a long time ago and Chuck has way more game than he did then......I believe Rampage had been fighting a while before he fought Chuck that first time. Should be a good one either way.

Did anyone hear that GSP wont be fighting Matt Serra next month? I thought I heard that he got hurt during training.....I was looking forward to that one.

Yeah GSP is hurt...even hurt he will annihilate Serra. Your right on the money with Sylvia, he's got size and thats all. Cro and Liddell would be the fight of the decade, but I dont know if it will ever happen, Liddell has made it clear he will not move up.

Liddell won't go up, Cro Cop wants to go down to 205.  He has mentioned a couple of times on his site, that he want's Silvias title.  Then he will drop to 205 and fight Liddell.  That loser Joe Rogan even mentioned that during the tito liddell fight.
