Super User 5bass Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 After that totally unnecessary break (50+ days).....the National Championship will be decided tonight. Ohio State is favored by 7 1/2 points. Any predictions? I say Ohio State wins by more than 10. Quote
justfishin Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I talked to my son last night whom just got back from almost two years in Irag and he has been a big FG's fan since I can remember. That boy lives college ball. Just for him I hope FG's wins. Anything can happen. I mean look at the Dallas field goal attempt the other day. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 Well, first of all, I'm a Big 12 fan, but living in SEC country I can't but help following the teams in this conference. I don't care what your bias is, these guys play THE SCHEDULE. I think Florida has earned the right to be in the National Championship Game. As a 7 1/2 point dog, they have a long row to hoe, but this game isn't decided by the bookies. I'm expecting a great game. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 I'm expecting a great game. Me too Quote
bassmasta7 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I've got OSU over UF 42-28. I went to see Florida play Auburn at Auburn and that was Florida's only loss. It was a great game and the teams were pretty evenly matched. Im glad that it is OSU vs. UF rather than OSU vs. Michigan. This way we get to see how good the SEC is compared to the Big 10. It could be that the SEC or Big 10 is just on another level than one of the other teams. With them playing each other, we get to see who really is the best. ***and boo Calvin johnson is going in the draft (cant blame him, being projected to be the #1) Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 9, 2007 Author Super User Posted January 9, 2007 ***and boo Calvin johnson is going in the draft (cant blame him, being projected to be the #1) Projected #1 Wide Receiver yes..... And RW, I agree. Florida plays in the toughest conference in college football, cant argue with that.....they play heavy hitters on a regular basis.I look for it to be a close game for about 3 1/2 quarters, then Ohio State pulls away late. justfishin Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Ice down the Sammy Adams, break out the crab ball, turn on the gas grill for the steaks and shrimp and turn off the phone. I am ready for this game. ;D Florida Gators vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Odds PDF Print E-mail Written by Steven Hastings Monday, 08 January 2007 Florida Gators vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Betting OddsThe Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes play in the BCS Championship Game tonight in Arizona to decide college football's national champion. Both teams have demonstrated all season that they belong in the final BCS Game. Florida has not been kind to its gambling friends only covering ATS 4-of-13 games so the staff at Point-Spreads.com wants every bettor to be aware of the value of line shopping to gain an extra advantage over the house. The slight difference in the lines available can be the difference in cashing a winning ticket or not and in the case of the Florida Gators fans tonight, we have found an extra half a point for you. HeritageSports.com is offering the Gators at +7.5. That half a point might go a long way if the game goes to overtime since most overtime games are decided by either 3 or 7 points. Ohio State has been solid all season cashing for its backers covering against the spread in 9-of-12 games. Sports Bettors that believe the Ohio State Buckeyes are the play tonight in the BCS Game should take a look at reduced juice sportsbook PinnacleSports.com which has the Buckeyes at -7 -105 instead of the traditional 110 juice. Basically $5 dollars per $100 bet on Ohio State. The UNDER has been very consistent cashing in 9-of-12 games the Buckeyes played in and the UNDER was the best total bet in Florida games as it cashed in 8-of-13 games. Bodog.com currently has the best line for the UNDER 47 bet since everyone else has the line at 46 110 with the sole exception of reduced juice sportsbook PinnacleSports.com which would be the place to bet the over at 46 -105. Once again saving bettors $5 dollars per $100 bet on the over. Make sure you checkout our live point spreads for the game at http://www.point-spreads.com/PS-CFBLines.php to get up to the minute line moves before the start of the BCS Game between the Florida Gators vs. Ohio State Buckeyes. Kickoff is at 8:15 PM EST on FOX. Next > [ Back ] Quote
justfishin Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Florida certainly made a statement tonight. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 I give Florida their props, I think after USC left the door open for Florida, they were the most deserving to go as a one loss team. I gave them very little respect and they have earned it for one year. I would love to see the AP Champs be Boise State, 13-0, something to shake up the BCS. SEC RULES THIS YEAR!!! CONGRATS TO THE GATOR FANS AND SEC NATION. hookem Matt Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 No kidding, this was a great year for the SEC. Quote
fishbear Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, now I have to listen to my coworkers crowing about the SEC and Florida....... IT SUCKS being a huge PAC-10 fan and living in the SEC.... I have been branded a heretic by the people here in Georgia, since I hate Nascar as well. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 Ohio State received a real Tush kicking last night. I didn't expect it to be so lopsided. Kudos to Florida and the SEC. Quote
RODBENDER Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 The BUCKEYES came in on a soft schedule that didn't prepare them to face the SEC champs . To go undefeated , win the Heiseman , and lose the BCS title game by 27 points has got to be the one of the lowest moments of a persons life . I am an SEC fan but i feel really bad for that fellow . Super User Catt Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 SEC bowl appearances 9 out of 12 teams; 6 wins and 3 losses No wonder no one want a play off : Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 Ohio State got out coached and out played ! Kudo's to Florida ! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 Wow. After last night, the question becomes, did OHIO STATE deserve to be there? Quote
cabela10 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 People, Ohio State hasn't played a meaningful game in over 50 days. Don't you think you would lose some of that competitive edge that you built up while playing the regular season. I can't stand some of the people on EPSn talking about how the Big 10 teams need to rethink how they play in there conference because they didn't compete this year. Well, funny, if I recall, just two or three seasons ago, Ohio State was the National Champion. One year it's PAC10 school that wins it all, then it's BIG10, then SEC, then some other conference another year. I'm not sure how they justify putting Wisconsin ahead of Michigan in the polls. Michigan smoked Wisconsin in the regular season. Michigan played in the rose bowl and lost to a 2 loss team in USC. Wisconsin beats a 3 loss team in Arkansas. I'm willing to bet USC would smoke Wisconsin and Michigan would beat Arkansas. I can't stand these polls and some of the logic these voters use to vote. Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 9, 2007 Super User Posted January 9, 2007 Fact Ohio St hadn't played in 50 something days Fact Florida hadn't played in 30 something days Fact Ohio St is 0-8 verses the SEC in bowl games Quote
Lightninrod Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I am so proud of the Florida Gators. I was born-n-raised in Miami, Florida many moons ago and am a sixth-generation Floridian. We moved to GA in 1972 but I still have the sand between my toes Florida had superior athletes, superior coaching, superior execution, and superior attitude last night. What a game! 8-) FWIW, I didn't matriculate at any college :-[. Dan Quote
Lane Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 My husband, Tony is on cloud 9 right now. He graduated from the University of Florida and is a DIE HARD GATOR! Heck, all of our packaging is orange and blue! We were out of state attending a dealer show, but our flight was scheduled to arrive back home in plenty of time to watch the game. Things did not go as planned, our flight was delayed and we missed our connection back to SA. He was NOT a happy camper, since they scheduled us on the next flight out of Memphis that would have departed right after kick off. He would have missed all but the last few minutes of the game. I felt sorry for him, so I told him that it would be o.k. with me if we got a room at the Radison, so he could watch the game. I had mixed feelings, since I knew he would be very upset if Florida lost! Like most everybody else, I thought that Ohio State would probably win. But Tony had complete confidence that his beloved Gators and his heros Leak and Tevo would not let him down! I decided that I would watch the first quarter with him on the big screen. If Florida was taking a beating after the first quarter, I would go back to the room and rent a movie. After the first play of the game, I thought that Ohio was going to run OVER Florida. But that would be the ONLY big play of the game for Ohio! We were surrounded by Ohio State fans, including several GA Bulldog fans that HATE the Gators. They disappeared after the third quarter. Tony now has FULL bragging rights, since the Gators are the national champions of basketball and football, which NO OTHER TEAM HAS EVER DONE! GO GATORS! Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Ends up this wasn't a very good game because Florida beat them SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad, turns out the bucks were GATORBAIT Quote
