WOW DID ANY ONE SEE THAT BOISE ST GAME. I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER SEEN A GAME THAT WAS THAT EXCITING. I THINK THAT PROVES THEY SHOULD GO TO A PLAYOFF SYSTEM, INSTED OF HANDPICKING WHO GOES . YOU KNOW IF USC , ND, MICHIGAN, OR FLORIDA WOULD HAVE BEEN 12-0 AT THE END OF THE SEASON THEY WOUL HAVE BEEN RANKED # 1 OR #2 . JUST MY PERSONNEL OPINION.  8-) 8-) 8-) ZIMMY

At the beginning they totally caught us offgaurd, AD didn't have his best game, but he played well on account that he hasn't played in 3 months.  But there's no other team that i'd want to lose to,  BRING ON THE PLAYOFFS!!

This was probably the most unbelievable finish ever to a bowl game.

In the past ten days I have probably seen fifty or sixty hours of football, both pro and college. Not really having a horse in the race at the Rose Bowl, I found it boring and ended up having dinner a little earlier than planned. I ended up doing something else with the family and never saw a play in the Boise State game.  Wow! What's being called the new "Game of the Century," and I didn't see a single play. :(

When you snooze, you loose.

Almost as good as the UT vs USC game.

I still think if you want to be considered a contender, and your not one of the big 6, you need to schedule games that shows your a contender.

BSU played one of the best games I've seen since the horns game.    Congrats to the program, the players, and their loyal fans who travelled down to support them.

As with Michigan, the only quality win was over Wisconsin, one win does not make you a contender just because you played Ohio State tough.      Same with Boise State, their best win was over Oregon State, and thats one quality win during the season.

This season sure has given both sides more fuel, playoffs or no playoffs.   Personally, if teams would schedule the tougher non conf. games, we wouldn't need a playoff system most years.

Overall from what I've read I'm under the imrpession that Boise State's lack of a tough strength of schedule is more a result of others refusing to schedule them as opposed to them avoiding top tier opponents.

However a Boise State vs. top BCS school game in the regular season makes little sense for both sides the way things are currently set up. Since a team in the top 11 of the polls automatically gets a BCS berth if undefeated, Bosie State has little incentive to play top tier teams. Converesely the top tier teams have little incentive to risk their season early against a team like Boise State.

Why would Texas USC Michigan etc etc schedule them in the regular season when:

- if they win they get little positive as its not a BCS school and not regarded as top competition

- if they lose they're out of the national championship.

From Boise State's angle it makes little sense either because if they lose in the regular season their shot at a BCS berth is done. Therefore rather than schedule a top caliber team early in the season they play their way into a BCS game and get their shot when it counts. Now that Boise State has won a BCS game this situation may change as they are accorded a little more respect.

I'm not disagreeing with your point Matt just highlighting why I think that alot of schools avoid the tough non conference game.

Overall though it was a top notch game. Boise State really threw the playbook at em. If the game had gone into two overtimes I think they would have lined a kitchen sink up at tight end.

It was a fantastic game.  Awesome play calling and execution.  And I'm not a college football fan at all - I'm big NFL fan.  But a game like that makes me want to watch more college bowls!

Sure wish the NFL teams had plays like that in their playbooks.

I forgot it was on until 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Glad i turned it on because that was one of the most exciting football games i have ever watched. That hook and ladder was sick along with the WR pass and statue of liberty play. Great game!!

Well yeah, except for that win over another BCS team, Notre Dame.  Everybodies darling.  The Mighty Quinn.  Greatest college coach ever Charlie Weis.

I agree that Michigan stunk yesterday, but that does not discount the fact that they had a pretty good season.

As for Boise State, awsome for them.  Anything that will help division I college football move towards a playoff system I'm in favor of.  Having attended a division II school, and seeing my team (Northwest Missouri St.) play for 4 national titles in the last 10 years I am 100% in favor of a playoff system.

Hey Matt,

Although it was a good game I didn't think the Tennessee vs South Carolina game was all that great this year

Sorry couldn't resist....that was another game for the ages with more at stake......and we do love Mr Vince in Tennessee!!!!!

I don't care what anyone thinks Boise State should be co-champions or should have a chance to play for the championship. All the talk about weak schedules is dumb because today's bad rap on Michigan is they had a weak schedule.

Unless they have a play off no one will ever know who the true national champion are, the AP (sports writers), the USA Today (coaches), or BCS (computer) polls will never get it right. The only true way is a playoff system, that's why it's used in every sport from high school, to college, and to Pros.

Only college football does not have a playoff system and that's

Its not a bad rap, its printed in black and white.    They played Notre Dame and Wisconsin.     Wisconsin had a great year, but played cream puffs for their non conference schedule, and didn't face Ohio St. or Notre Dame.    Wisc. toughiest test was Mich. and they lost.    What other test did they face?    No one!!!

Mich, OSU, USC all beat Notre Dame, rather convincingly.    Michigan couldn't even beat Bowling Green until late 4th quarter at home.

USC on the other hand, played Arkansas opening day.    USC played Ark, Neb, and Notre Dame.     Anyone care to tell me who played tougher non conf. schedule than USC?

They could have done the same as Michigan or Wisc.    and played no bodies, yet, if they win, they put them selves ito postition for the national title.

If lesser schools want to have a shot, they need to go play tougher programs to show they are for real.      Don't get me wrong, I love the Broncos over the past 6 years, they are exciting to watch.      I know the Broncos only seat 30,000 fans at home and no large program will play there, but thats no excuse for not playing some one on their turf.

Catt, if OSU loses, and Florida isn't impressive with the win, why should Boise State be Co-champs?     Why not BCS Champ period?    I look at OU with one loss, the Oregon St loss was Bull, and beating a one loss team such as OU, well, most saw the game, and it was one of the best games played all season.

USC played Arkansas during week one and Arkansas was unranked, then USC played Nebraska during week two and Nebraska was ranked 21st on the USA poll. That's not exactly a tough non-conference schedule Arkansas ended up being a 3 loss team and Nebraska a 4 loss team. I don't look at just who teams beat but who they loose to USC lost to UCLA a 5 loss team and Oregon State a 4 loss unranked team.

As stated the only true test would be a playoff system, anything else is BS

Ark., Neb, ND,    They are not even close to Central Michigan, Bowling Green, or any other teams, no comparison.

Ark lost 3 games, but to who?    Pretty darn good team, just like Neb. and ND.

Again, what other teams put them selves out there like USC does?

USC vs UCLA    first off, its rivialry game, so to say USC lost to an unranked opponent that was 8-4 is no cream puff.       Neb is not the Tom Osborne team we are used to, but they aren't a Florida Atlantic team either.

Trust me, I don't care for USC, but they do play a tougher schedule than 98% of the elite teams out there.

If colleges want a play off system, and its about money, they stand to lose more than they gain.       Keep in mind that in high school, education is still key, or is important to most.   Should be in COLLEGE also!!!

You lose about 200 games if you install a playoff system in college, and the smaller schools depend on what gate and concessions bring in.      Regular season would be shorter and less games to be played.    Playoffs work for the top 6 conf. who already get automatic bid.

Heres the kicker, as been proposed, and 8 team playoff will reguire playoffs to see who makes the playoffs.  lol thats funny, a play off to determine who makes the playoffs.

Do you think USC, OU, Mich, WVU, OSU, Rut., UL, Florida, BSU, ND, Auburn, LSU, ARK, Tenn, CAl and others don't think they should get a shot at the playoffs.    Looks like more than 8 team want to play.

How do you determine who plays?     The only way to seperate the top teams is by playing better non conf teams.

Either way will still leave people saying they got cheated and left out.    It won't solve the problems.

Why have lesser teams that have went undefeated not get in?    They didn't play anyone above the talent level ahead of them to gage how good they can be.

To keep the existing Bowls going, and install playoffs, you shorten the season with 200 games being lost, thats only 2 weks, but thats alot of money to lesser schools who buy in.

Do the Math!

HAHA, I dont know if you guys heard about it or not, but that RB that won the game walked over and proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend right there on the sidelines....

Kinda hard for the young lady to say no at that point in time, dont ya think?

Take away the games in which Division 1-A teams play Division 1-AA and a couple non-conference games. A playoff system would involve 16 teams, one for each conference; if you don't win your conference you don't make the playoffs.

Playoffs

Week 1 - 16 teams - 8 games

Week 2 - 8 teams - 4 games

Week 3 - 4 teams - 2 games

Week 4 you have a championship game.

The entire playoffs would consist of 15 games

Once again I'll say it aint about who is the true national champions but it's about money other wise how can you justify Miami Hurricanes in a bowl game with a record of 6-6.

Even though I would like a full playoff system, even 3 extra games would still statisfy me.  you could still play the bowl games...

fiesta bowl winner v. sugar bowl winner                         orange v. rose

then they play for the title.
