Super User Gatorbassman Posted December 26, 2006 Super User Posted December 26, 2006 Yep, he died in the hospital next door to the one I work at. It is a sad day for sure. It was accually heart failure due to complications with pneumonia that killed him. Quote
justfishin Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 This was a great loss to the music world. He was one of the hardest working entertainers I can recall. He gave a lot. God rest his soul. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I'm truly sorry to hear it.He was a very entertaining performer.I think I liked watching him dance as much as listening to him sing. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I THINK AVID STOLE SOME OF HIS MOVES AS WITNESSED ON THE KU VIDEO Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Very sad inded. Was a great performer. I knew a guy who was the keyboard player was in James' brother's band. He got to play with JB a couple of times and said the man was incredible. Had more energy than anyone he had ever seen. The thing he mentioned was the biggest challenge in JB's band was that a set list was a suggestion and not necessarily meant to be followed . He said JB could really read a crowd and knew exactly how to get them into it and would change up songs on the fly. Often turning to the band, throwing out a song title not even on the set list and counting it off on the spot. Had to be ready for anything playing with JB. They don't make them like that anymore. He will be missed but his music will live on. Eddie Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 50+ albums, 109 top 10 singles Time to rest. Thanks for everything JB! Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 27, 2006 Super User Posted December 27, 2006 Terrible news, but I am sure he is already planning his first concert behind the Pearly Gates May he Rest in Peace. Quote
Guest avid Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I remember watching James Brown for the first time on The Mike Douglas show. This was back in the mid-sixties and JB was just hitting the big time. I was dumb struck. I couldn't believe what I was watching and listening too. He had the grittiest voice that could hit any note he reached for, all the while moving his feet at warp speed or doing splits. Incredible. He has to be on anyones list of greatest performers ever.
