Murray Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 what about female singers? female singers seem to get left out of a lot of top band list. Why is this. i think a lot of girls and really rock. lets see some of your favorites. Dolores O'Riordan from the cranberries is my favorite. kelly clarkson is very good as well--good performer. Quote
RiskKid. Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 There are many others but my fav is Billie Holiday......nuff said Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 21, 2006 Super User Posted December 21, 2006 Michelle Branch (The Wreckers), Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Jo Dee Messina, Jessica Andrews or just some of the females I can think of off the top of my head that are on my Ipod. I LOVE the stuff Michelle Branch did with Santana. She also joined Jessica Harp and formed The Wreckers recently. I saw them on TV the other morning man are they great together. So talented. I think not many people talk about them as being "favorites" because we like music we can relate to. And although I like the song "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood ..................... sorry I can't relate. So it will never be a favorite, just a d**n good song in my book. Plus most of them are pretty d**n sexy as well. Quote
Crabcakes Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Joan Osbourne is a favorite of mine. St. Teresa is one of my favorite songs. P.J. Harvey is good too. Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Its true that the faired sex gets left out quite often. I few faves come to mind: Billie Holiday Etta James Nancy Kelly Heart Ella Aretha Quote
Rose_Jackets67 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Patsy Cline - In my opinion, the finest singer of all time. Wonderful songs, that even 50 years later don't sound the least bit dated. adam Quote
Super User senile1 Posted December 21, 2006 Super User Posted December 21, 2006 Heart - Ann Wilson is one of my favorites of all time. Nancy doesn't do bad backing her up. Barbara Streissand Celine Dion Whitney Houston (Before she practically ruined herself with Bobby Brown, she was unbelievable.) Dora Pesch (From the band, Warlock) Her voice could raise the dead. What a heavy metal voice! If you haven't heard her, listen to their one big hit, "All We Are", on Triumph and Agony released in 1987. There are other great songs on this album as well, but only one was well-known. Janis Joplin Momma Cass Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) Billie Holliday Roberta Flack Aretha Franklin I know there are others. These are the ones I could thing of at this moment. Oh, how could I forget Pat Benatar. Quote

Guest avid Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Patricia Tandy - The Pretenders, most underrated group ever. Janis Joplin - Pearl was just coming into her prime when heroin broght her down. Etta James - perhaps one the all time penetrating voices ever. Aretha Franklin - She is the difinition of soul music Annie Lennox - Can rock it and sing it with the best of them Patsy Cline - The best phrasing ever to come outa country Peggy Lee - Her aloof vocal style gave all power to the message Dinah Washington - the quintisential saloon singer. Maybe the best ever. Shakira - Hips don't lie. Quote
