Fisher of Men Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Here's a prayer that I try to live by: (key word- "try") The Serenity Prayer God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen. Merry CHRISTmas to you all as well!! Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted December 12, 2006 Super User Posted December 12, 2006 There are many places in the world where to be "politically incorrect" is to rewarded with imprisonment, or worse. This ain't one of "em. Never has been. Never will be. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY Have a joyous and thankful holiday with your family. GK Quote

Amen. Merry CHRISTmas to you all as well!! I am not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but I do thoroughly enjoy this. I worked with troubled youths (firesetters and sex offenders), and the first part of the prayer was visible in just about every aspect of their treatment plans. I feel that once they began to model themselves with this in mind, they were able to make some serious changes. Great post and Merry Christmas. Wayne Quote
Keithscatch Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Merry Christmas all and remember Jesus is the reason for the season. Quote

Guest avid Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I don't get the "ain't politically correct part" But Merry Christmas to all. It was weird putting up the Christmas lights in shorts and a tee shirt, but they tell me I'll get used to it. 8-) Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 13, 2006 Author Super User Posted December 13, 2006 avid, it ain't politically correct to mention or make reference to Christ or God cause it might offend someone of a different religion. Its ok as long as you don't mention or make reference to the God who has a son named Jesus. Quote
JT Bagwell Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I say Merry Christmas to everyone here and anyone else that I feel the need to say it to. What has our country become when people have to worry about being offensive when saying nice things to people? I remember when I was a kid Christmas was so awesome because we had our whole grade school decorated and we had a big Christmas Program. I don't even think they are allowed to have those programs anymore without using watered down, generic terms like "Happy Winter Holiday." Ok sorry I got a little off course, Merry Christmas everyone. timmyswetarded Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 and for our friends "sur de" border christmas means "more christ" as you may have assumed Quote
Fisher of Men Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Thanks Wayne, It kind of goes along with the phrase "Life isn't fair, get over it!" I'm trying to teach that one to my daughter early on. God bless you for the work you have done/do with young people. I teach 7th/8th graders and work with youth and children at our church. It takes a special person to connect with them. Avid, I put my Christmas lights up in shorts here, too. I was wearing shorts on Thanksgiving, then we had snow and ice for a week, now I'm wearing shorts again, and just might for Christmas. Texas weather has always been strange, but this takes the cake. Again, Merry Christmas everyone!! Quote

Guest avid Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 avid, it ain't politically correct to mention or make reference to Christ or God cause it might offend someone of a different religion. Its ok as long as you don't mention or make reference to the God who has a son named Jesus. I confess that I did know what you meant. I understand why taxpayer funded or federally licensed entities have to maintain a neutral stance to any specific religeous reference, but this is not a government funded forum (right Glenn?) So we are not burdened with the obligation to be non sectarian, after all Jews, Moslems, Bhuddists, and Atheists pay taxes too. I do wish though, that our non Chrisitian members would express themselves more freely. I don't recall seeing any references to Chanuka, Ramadan, etc. Providing we adhere to the rules as set forth by Glenn, we the members ARE BassResource.com. All of us. Diversity is one of the rare elements that has made America the greatest nation in history. We should encourage open dialogue and embrace all who in the spirit of brotherhood and bassfishing have joined our forum. avid Quote
