Look this one up, the new jeep grand cherokee SRT8. It is stock with about 450 hp. And goes insanley fast. I mean fast. I mean about 0-100 in about 7 seconds fast. Really. And only $45,000!  ;D

cant type too well in the dark. I meant 17 seconds..... but that is completley stock, and ive seen videos where they can get into the high 11's and low 12's in a 1/4.

Some of these newer vehicles are amazing, those are impressive numbers out of a 4200+lb vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick. What's even more impressive is they do it with no power adders and will putt along at 1200rpms down the highway.

The new Z06 is absolutely awe inspiring. That car will run mid 11's off the showroom floor on street tires with a good driver. With minor mods like exhaust, air filter and computer programming that car will run 10's with a capable driver behind the wheel.  :o

My ride is a 66 Chevelle SS396 with a 11:1 compression .030 over 4 bolt main 427, ported rectangle port heads, forged pistons and crank, edelbrock intake, holley 750cfm carb(too small) and a 305 degree duration Comp cam. It has 2.125" headers, 3" exhaust, a nodular iron case/midplate super t10 four speed trans with a 12 bolt posi rear with 3.90 gears. Other things include a Mallory distributor, msd rev limiter, a two step rev limiter for the launch and a line lock to hold the front wheels during the burnout and launch, plus lots of other things.

The first time I had this car to the strip I ran it on street tires which was an absolute waste of time. The thing spun down the entire track and got sideways at each gear change. The second time I came a little more prepared and ran it on slicks, best run was a spinning 8.28 in the eighth which equates to high 12's in the 1/4.

So far I've only ran the car a total of 7 times down the strip, the car is still spinning on slicks, I've done absolutely no tuning to this point and am running too small a carb(should be an 850), I am not powershifting yet and I've been short shifting it 1000 to 1500rpms because of the tire spin. My goals are to run high 11's in this car, at that point I'll turn the little blue bottle on.  ;)

All my pics of the car got wiped out when my last computer crashed. Here's a couple vids of the car at the track.

Here's a pic of my brothers chopper, we built and tuned this bike. It has a polished S&S 96ci engine, JIM'S 6 speed trans, a 3" BDL open belt drive, open drag pipes and a 250mm rear wheel/tire. The ONLY thing we didn't do is the paint. He had this thind dyno tuned and it put out 105hp to the rear tire, the dyno operator said he has a good engine and that most of these 96ers have a hard time putting out much over 100hp. 5hp don't sound like much, but when it's on two wheel it is. I guess we did a good job tuning the thing.  :D

Thanks, I had more pics of it including pics of the build up process but they got wiped out along with my car pics when my last computer crashed. My bro has a ton of pics, I have some regular photos of it but was too lazy to scan them. For a couple of guys who never built a bike, this thing went together fairly easy.

That pic was taken on the first ride after running it in on the stand. He's made some changes since then, like the grips, the riser caps, he put some cable clamps on it to hold the cables, as well as a few other things.

Man you don't want to know what he spent on that thing!!  :o

That Jeep is faster than the new Cayman Porsche! :o Thats an awsome truck.

Rat...the Z06 is an American icon I love them! Your car is so sweet. Loved the burnout. She is a beauty. The chopper is a beast too. I have to say, while it looks uncomfortable to ride on, it is definetly beautiful and fast! Nice job on everything Rat they came out sweet!

Here are the Specs on the Porsche Cayman, Cayenne and Jeep. The Cayman is only has 295 horses but it still has a top speed of 171 i'm not a fan of Porsche but thats preety darn good. I give credit where it is deserved. The Jeep has 420. Its quicker in the quarter mile than a new Mustang GT and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The Jeep is cheaper and faster than both the Porsche's thats really something.

Thanks for the compliments. The bike is a bit uncomfortable to ride but that's what he wanted. On long rides your back, butt and arms start hurting. Plus the seat doesn't have much lip in the back, so when you twist the throttle wide open your butt tends to ride off the back of the seat and onto the rear fender. Kinda unnerving, you really have to put the death grip on the handle bars. If I ever build one It won't be as long or have as much rake in the front end.

You have good taste for a guy your age, I'm kinda surprised you haven't been talking about some Honda or something.  ;)

I wonder If my local Chevy dealer would take my soul in exchange for a new Z06?  ;D

Here's one of my dream cars, 1967 Corvette coupe, 427 435hp, 4 speed with side pipes and tripower carbs(three dueces). This was my #1 dream car up until the new Z06 came out, I'm a performance oriented guy if you can't tell. ;)

To late.....I tried. ::) That 67 is so fine. I would love one of those. What a beast.

Hondas........................THE WORST car manufacturer ever they all suck...toyota, huyndai(who cares how you spell it ;D), mitsubishi(again....who cares...), nissan etc. etc. All the Jap cars. I hate them all with a passion. You would have to pay me money to destroy one. Thats how much I hate them. ;D

PLEASE explain.  I am not into all the rice grinder stuff (just stupid), but I have a 1992 Honda Accord ......... a tad over 200,000 miles on it.  All I do is change the oil, tires, and gas (27-30 mpg).  That's all the money I have ever spent on it.  I bought it when I was 16 and then about 6 months later I bought an immaculate 1990 IROC-Z28 Camaro.  I drove that all through out high school.  My first semester in college I decided that I really needed the extra money so I sold the Camaro.  I only drove that car for basically 2 1/2 years and I bet I spent at least twice as much as I have spent on the Accord in 8 years.  For just the purpose of getting from point A to B economically and worry free, I don't think there is a better car out there.  You will see that "muscle" cars just become a money pit.  That's fine if you have a full time job and like messing with that stuff, but as a student .... that is not what you want.

Sure, when I graduate I will probably buy a newer truck or SUV (if Honda would make a V8 that's the way I would go), but no way in hell will I get rid of my Accord.  I will drive that thing until it's dead and at the rate it's going, it will be another 200,000 miles at least

I agree with you, KU. I had a little toyota truck that ran forever and never cost me anything but the basics.

You may want to get a little driving experience under your belt before you make claims like this one. Exactly what are you basing your opinion on?

Imports anger me some time. By imports I mean Rice. I can't stand them. Mainly because there are so many and they all act the same and have the same exact mentality. There cars are almost identical its crazy.

My mistake KU I should have clarified...been more specific as well. I was directing my post at Hondas in a performance spectrum. I said before i'll give credit where it is deserved. And its true. They can take abuse...and they are great on gas. They have their purpose. They suit people who want a durable car that gets good gas and is cheap in $. Like youself a student in college like yourself? I can't think of a better fit than a Honda or Toyota...good on gas, durable and cheap. BUT they fall apart. Obviously that isn't the point here. Sure its gonna last forever. But its gonna look like crap unless you really up keep it. On the other hand, you don't buy a honda for looks. You buy it for lifespan.

I should have adressed the fact that I was focusing on the Ricer's as in the people who drive them. They buy hondas, toyotas etc etc. Then they put all this trash on their car. Like the huge wing for example...whats the point of putting a freakin huge wing on the trunk of a front wheel drive car? Or the fart pipe that actually makes your car go slower and is noise pollution. My dad bought a 96 towncar. It had around 30 I belive. It ran like new then...and still does now. It has 211 thousand miles on it. It looks great from the outside for its age as well on the inside. He just bought a new Navigator. He saw a guy at a 7-11 who mentioned the new Navigator. They started talking. Turns out that that guy had just sold his towncar. He said he got rid of it because he was scared. When my dad asked why he said, because it had 800 thousand miles on it. Another thing is Jeeps those last forever as well. The thing that aggrevates me is the people who take rust bucket hondas to a track and then talk crap about how they have such great cars and they will smoke Vettes, Vipers, Mustangs, Chargers etc. When all they did was put a huge wing on it, maybe some rims, a fart pipe, a body kit and paint. They do more cosmetic things than performance and they think they have a great car. I don't know about you guys. Maybe the plauge hasn't gotten to you yet. But being from Long Island trash talking Ricers are a spreading like wild fire. They have no knowledge of performance or anything. Now i'm not saying i'm the all mighty master of cars. But I have witnessed things like this first hand. People talk trash to people with faster cars, and they get beat. Then they start making excuses right away. It was an honest mistake I didn't really word it that well. But I mean I see this everyday. They are very arrogant...I can't really describe it you have to see it first hand. They will put down a bet at a track...talk smack...lose and then start with the you rigged it it wasn't fair etc etc. And I just love American made cars more than anything. I love American muscle. Don't get me wrong. There are also people who buy imports and seriously put time into them. But around here you just see people who cut every corner and then talk a lot of BS. I want to see people who put time into their cars and are knowledgeable about them. I respect a honda that is tuned and you can obviously see that time and effort was put into the car. I still don't like it. But I respect the person for putting time into their cars. I have a better way to describe it and word what i'm trying to say...its very hard, its on the tip of my tounge but I can't throw it together. I was talking about Ricers more so than hondas. I should have said imports.

Ok I elaborated. I had to go get my lil brother off the bus and I felt rushed. I wanted to try and explain myself without rushing and putting anything down I wanted to explain myself which I feel like I still haven't. But I mean its hard to explain unless you see it for yourself.

I know what you mean.  I had a bunch of "ricers" in high school (when rice grinders were big, kind of seems like that trend is going away) that always wanted to race me in my IROC.  I always refused because I didn't want another ticket.  I got one the first day I drove the car to school for doing a fish tail out of the parking lot ..... right in front of a cop.  Yeah ......... real smart.  My parents took the car that I JUST got away from me for a month (that was the deal before I bought the car).  Anyways I told them if they wanted to race me they would have to go to the "Open" night a drag strip in the area.  Let's just say they shut up after that night and it made the $1000's they poured into their CRX's and Civics look stupid.  But I know what you mean.  I used to have rice grinders pull up to me all the time at stop lights reving their engine wanting to race.  Most of the time I didn't cooperate, but the times I did it was no contest.  9 out of 10 of those cars are all show and no go.

It's like trying to take an economy car and justify it as a muscle car.  But it also goes the other way around.  One of my best friends has a 1967(I think) Nova SS.  He always tried to justify it as being a "good"  economical car.  About 50% of the time he was hitching rides to school and if it snowed he definetly had no chance of getting there.  He now has a Camry as a daily driver and has put in A LOT of work on the Nova and drives it for fun and as a weekend car ....... which is what they are IMO.  He also has a full time job and enjoys working on it.

This what I used to drive. It absolutely flew!!! But it wasn't too practical for Nebraska winters. I sold it to get a truck and a boat. It was tough, but I think that was my first encounter with the bait monkey. ;D

This was my car it's a 69 Hurst Olds Cutlass it came stock with a 350 cubic inch 350 hp and a 4 speed on the floor. I bored it .060 over, 12.5 to 1 compression TRW pistons, full stroke Iskenderian cam, Elderbrock tarantula high rise manifold, Holley (2 ea.) 1180, Hooker Headers, Borg Warner T10 4/speedd transmission, Hurst Mystery sifter with lock out reverse, Borg/Beck clutch & pressure plate, and a 3.90 ratio rear end.

The car was classified as a B/Modified Production on the strip at 10.19 @ 132.40 mph, totally street legal and I drove to work daily.

052918.bmp

I just can't hold it in any longer. This is a lie if I've ever seen one.

#1 906 1969 Hurst olds 442s were produced. ALL of them came with a 455 cubic inch engine. If you take a close at the hood on the car in the picture you can just make out the 455 emblems.

#2 Trw doesn't make 12.5:1 pistons for a 350 Olds.

#3 Gm used Muncie 4 speed transmissions from 1964 to about 1973, It wasn't until 1974 or so they started using the Borg Warner Super T10.

#4 The Edelbrock Torker, which is sometimes reffered to as the tarantula, is a SINGLE four barrel square flange intake. I know because I own one.

#5 That picture was pirated from the website below and was taken at the AC Tumbleweeds car show in 2002. The AC Tumbleweed car show is held in Kansas, Catt lives in Louisiana by his own admission.

Catt

Care to explain why you are pirating pictures of other peoples cars off of websites and calling them your own???

This is something that really angers me. Why? People post pictures of their pride and joy only to have some jackleg liar swipe them and call them their own. Not only that but scam artists have been pirating pictures all over the net and "selling" these cars on Ebay, scamming honest people out of thousands of dollars. >:(

*Edit*  He lives in Texas not Louisiana, either way it ain't Kansas.

Rat your right! When I was looking for a car similar to my fathers 74 Cutlass that came up but I figured that Catt had just posted it on another site and taken the link. Plus i'm still learning, The 69 Cutlass that you claim to be your own is 23 years before my time. I haven't the greatest knowledge of them. So I didn't pick that up.

So whats up Catt? :-? >:( Please enlighten us.

Rat - Thank you, sir. Normally, I'm not one to bite my tounge (certainly not in a face to face situation), but I generally let the guys who had "One just like it in the old days - But it was faster and prettier than yours" go with just a smile and a 'right on'. My first thought when I read Catt's post was 'You have lost your d--- mind!'

Catt - no hard feelings here - I know you are veteran to the board, and I (among tons of others I'm sure) would hate to see you get upset about something like this and stop posting. However, I think it'd be wise to go back and edit/remove that post.

adam

PS - I dig the Chevelle, Rat. That thing through the mufflers is almost as loud as my 396 with the headers open. You run that thing on pump gas? I'm running 9.8:1 advertised pistons, and have to pull a couple of degrees of timing out to run 93 octane in the summers.

Adam

Thanks, I meant to compliment you on your sweet Impala. Impressive performance for a 4400lb sled!! I actually have a 1967 Biscayne 2 door post car I'm in the process of restoring. I'll tell you, finding parts for this year Impala is tough as things just aren't readily available as they are for the mainstream muscle cars.

The Biscayne has a mild 350, a th350 with a 2400 stall and 3.55 gears. Nothing special, just a big ol cruiser with A/C.

Surprisingly the Chevelle does run on premium pump fuel. The ONLY reason it does it because it has a big ol 305 advertised duration camshaft that lowers the cranking compression. It's not really an optimal setup if you know what I mean, but it sure does sound good!! I'm able to run 38 degrees total timing with no pinging whatsoever, even in 100 degree heat. Any more compression or any less cam and it probably would detonate itself to death.

I really like the understated look of your car, a real sleeper. By the time the person next to you realizes what's going on, your gone. ;D
