Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 So cool,...I was deep in South County, RI and made my way into 535 spring st. This is always a cool stop because the people own 1700 acres and it's a pine forest about 1/4 mile in all along the driveway. Really cool looking when you drive in. Anyway, I got out of the truck (UPS driver) and was walking to the front door when over near the lama pen, I saw this huge friggin' buck. Or is it a unicorn (rubbing eyes) what the........ I calmly walked back to my truck and got the camera, thinking this thing was gonna bolt any second but when I got my camera and looked back, it had actually run over towards the back of the house (closer to me) where the backyard (fenced in grass) is. I clicked about 8 shots as he walked along the back of the fence before he dashed back towards the woods and was gone. An Albino buck,....and a huge one! How cool is that? Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 We don't have Elk in RI. Did I find a mutant? lol Quote

Troutfisher Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 lol LBH When I first read the title, I was like, "Whoa, what did you do?!" Good pictures! Quote
Guest avid Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 That fence should have tipped you off. You must have been near a hunting preserve where they import exotic species for trophies. Nice pic though Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 Avid, that's what I'm saying. This is deep on private land. He is on the OUTSIDE of the fence. Land slopes behind and off into thick woods. My neighbor, an avid hunter said it has to be an escaped pet of sorts. He said there was a guy in West Greenwich that had a herd of 20 or so but none where albino. Quote
justfishin Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I saw a bunch of those at a party in the early 70's once. Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 There from Texas thats a JOHNNY WINTERS ANTELOPE, don't you guys know anything Quote
Tom Bass Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Nice photos LBH. Definitely something exotic...but what? White tail face, mule deer body, with moose antlers...and snow white!? Definitely different. That's for sure. If I were dear hunting I would not shoot it, with my rifle anyway. If you got 8 shots at it with your camera it must not be too wild. I actually saw an albino White Tail Deer as a kid. I was working at a farm helping to rebuild some pens in a barn and it just appeared on a hillside about 50 yards from me. When I moved it bolted, just as all deer do in PA during hunting season. Thanks for posting the photos. Tom Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 12, 2006 Super User Posted December 12, 2006 Dude 8 shots! You need me to sight that gun in? Quote
fishbear Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Dude 8 shots! You need me to sight that gun in? Remember Catt, LBH is getting older now, his eyes are not what they used to be.... we need to be very concious of his impending handicap and not bring to much attention to it..... you know how sensitive he can be..... Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 Who said that? (turning head side to side) Quote
Keithscatch Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Exotic deer penned up behind fences. Did you see Jimmy Houston around anywhere? ;D Quote
nboucher Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Russ, that's definitely an escapee from somehere. I had a similar experience several years ago, when I was bushwacking with a buddy of mine in New Hampshire near a pond in late winter. We came across an area that was all rooted up. We kept going, and suddenly from behind some boulders a huge wild boar came charging toward us. As you know, there are no boars in NH. We figure it had escaped from a huge private game preserve in Croydon, NH, even though it was over a 100 miles away. I sometimes wonder whatever happened to that boar. Quote

BucketmouthAngler13 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hey LBH you could have bagged that buck! If i remember correctly you keep a rod and reel in your UPS truck, so all you have to do is tie on a 4oz weight can give it a good strong cast and hope you hit it. If that doesnt work then sneak up on it and do some flipp'n ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User senile1 Posted December 12, 2006 Super User Posted December 12, 2006 Tom Bass: Nice photos LBH. Definitely something exotic...but what? White tail face, mule deer body, with moose antlers...and snow white!? Maybe it's a Moosalope . . . . . or a . . MuleMoose Unicorn NoHorn . . . . it's definitely not the famed Jackalope. It's ears are too small. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Well being 4 legged that means it cannot go up a ladder so maybe its a CAN'T ELOPE Quote
