There's no "I" in "team",lol Reminds me of somthing else, least favorite musician= STING From a comment he made back in the 90's when he was asked if he would ever go back to playing with the POLICE. His answer was.... "that would be like a college professor going back to teach 3rd grade" How friggin' arrogant, and I'll be the first one to say it, STEWART COPELAND was 1/2 of that "original" police sound. Every bit as much as Sting. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted December 11, 2006 Super User Posted December 11, 2006 These lists are so difficult to do because there are so many great musicians and it is hard to narrow the list to 12 or even 50. Also, I forget to name people and after I create a list I look at it and say why didn't I think of so and so. So for this moment in time, these are who I thought of: Drums: Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart Bass: Stanley Clarke, Geddy Lee, Billy Sheehan Trumpet: Miles Davis Harmonica: John Popper Keyboards: Chick Corea, Keith Emerson, Jordan Rudess Guitar: Andres Segovia, Christopher Parkening, Joe Pass, Steve Vai, Jimmy Hendrix, Paco De Lucia, Al Dimeola, Steve Morse, John Petrucci Vocals: Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate, Barbara Streisand As an aside to LBH: I agree with you regarding The Police but I give Andy Summers the nod as the one who made them unique. Andy Summers wasn't an extravagant or technical virtuoso, but his guitar playing was very unique and without it, The Police would have been nothing but very basic drum and bass lines played to a rockin', reggae beat. Without Summer's guitar there was no color to their music. Quote
Murray Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 lDrums: buddy rich, mike portnoy, jojo meyer guitar: john petrucci, trey anastasio, keller williams, david gilmour bass: les claypool, victor wooten keys: rick wakeman, richard wright harmonica: junior wells (edit) forgot to add vocals: shannon hoon, brandon boyd, damien rice red = allstar band. Cigarlover 1 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Wow thats a whole lotta different flavors !!!!!!!!! Thats great, there is so many types of music and this forum seems to listen to the all 8-) Yeah, that's awesome. Who'd uh thunk there'd be such a great mix on an ol' redneck fishin' forum. ;D This is really tuff! I could go on and on if I sat and thought about this. Here's some on the top of my head though. Vocals - Sinatra. Don't forget Dean Martin if not for vocals that guy was smooth. Johnny Cash, Alison Krauss, of course John Lennon, Brent Mydland of the Dead. Loved his raspy ol voice. Guitar - Hendrix, Anastasio, SRV, Edie Van Halen, Pat Metheny Dobro - Jerry Douglas Bass - Vic Wooten, Jaco Pastorius Drums - Carter Beauford, John Bonham, Stewart Copeland. Keys - T. Monk, Rick Wakeman, Page McConnell Banjo - Bela Fleck Mandolin - Dave Grisman And what would music be without Songwriters - Robert Hunter, Bob Marley, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. O.K that's more than a dozen. my mistake. Quote
