Ignorant folks at the boat ramp is my #1, but #2 is when I use a fly rod for bass, and someone (who probably thinks they are helping me) yells "Hey, I don't think there are any trout in here." Yeah, I'm casting a frog popper the size of a bird for trout. Dumba@#%@!

like cpvenom said. We were going down a canal that heads in to theis big river. and it is all no wake. so we ar putting along get to the gates which are about 2 foot wider than our boat. And our lower unit is loose so it is loose enough to move a coupl inches so it is a pain to keep the boat straight going slow anyway get through the dam and some guy has his lines out for cat fish. 2 poles he just sits there and watches us. as we go across his lines one line snaps and the other pole goes in the water. he is still just standing there arms crossed with a dumb look on his face. so we kill the boat throw anchor. not mention there is a dam the runs right beside the locks. we are about 50 yds away from it we put the lower unit up and we look for the line but there is none. so we go to put the lower unit back down and it isnt working so we finally get it working and we leave. i dont think he was quite plum.

I just got another peeve last weekend. We were fishing a small river at the tailwaters of a riffle and doing pretty good drifting tubes for smallies when these two bozos on atvs came out of the woods behind us and just churned the water to a muddy froth! Well the fish quit biting and the jerks went on to the other side.  Ugh!

Here is a other one I got two days ago. I was trolling for spanish mackeral and 4 jet skeirs went right through our lines and snapped them all. I lost a really good expensive plug because of them. Im sure that has happend to alot of people.

Trash has got to be one of my worst peeves! I have a few spots at some very popular lakes. They are in the woods, but sometime ago someone pulled som picnic benches into the woods on the bank. Now people think that because there is a bench there they can set camp for the BBQ. No biggie there. But there are no trash cans, and last time I was there I literally had to drag myself through ankel deep trash to get to the bank.

It almost made me cry.

I also really can't stand people telling me every time I'm fishing that you'll never catch nuttin on that stuff (soft and hard plastic)...get some bread or corn!

And of course the people walking down the bank that let the dog/kids run into the water.

I had one family decide to set a blanket right behind where I was fishing. They did stay out of the water, but the children decided my takle box was a toy box and before I noticed, they grabbed plastic worms and started throwing them in the grass. (Grrrrr! I'm still miffed about that one) I told the adults that there were sharp hooks in the box, please don't let them near there. They gave me a look like I was doing something wrong, and proceded to ignore their children.

Vincedia, I also belive trash is the biggest peeve. I dont know why people think they have the right to leave there trash were ever they want. Its there enviroment and they live in it so why do they litter? I mean you wouldent throw your trash in your house and never pick it up why do it out side?

Boaters in a tournament that talk about the 20 pound bag they caught the day before pre-fishing, then tell you every spot they caught one yesterday as you are going down the bank. I usually end up beating them, and combined we might make the 20 pounds.

Yep, that will drive you nuts. I can't stand to draw a rider who brags about catching numerous HUGE fish the day before and we waste time on thier spots only to be skunked, then they leave all thier friggin junk in my boat from switching lures every other cast trying to match what I'm wackin em on....

I always shudder when taking this certain person in the boat with me. He always acts like he controls the boat, and asks, lets go over there, there arent any fish here, havent we been here long enough? He scares the $&!+ out of me when he casts. The boat shakes, sometimes lures snap off, and about a dozen times he casts and grabs my 100$ rod on his backswing, and just lets it rip. I let loose and hes like all, well you should have moved it when i was casting, or why is it my fault? grrrr............ Or people that dont listen to a single word you say. Example, im catching tons, they are catching noting, with the same lure. They dont pay attention to how i explain the retrieve. Or they dont tie good knots and break their 15 lb test line constantly. Also, people who have 15 lb. test line and when they hook a 13" bass, they have their drag so loose they play it for a minute or more and get it up to the boat and gently get it right next to the boat, give it a minute to run if its still livley, make sure its dead tired before they get it in their hand. Then if it shakes, they drop it in the boat. This all comes from that one person. I LOVE i mean LOVE fishing by myself, parents wont let me. Partners make me fish too fast too, nobody likes to fish as slow as me.

Amen to that Rockinfish! I mainly fish alone for that very reason.I used to fish with a guy that thought he was a pro/guide(to hear him talk)and he wasn't a bad fisherman. When I go out in my boat I like to be the Captain,I guess.

the one thing that makes me so mad is when im trying to fish a boat ramp and these big-bad-bass boats come up and i have to move   >:(

Hey Murray

Not to be rude or anything but isn't the purpose of a boat ramp to allow people to put boats in and out of the water? If they can't use the ramp since you are fishing then how do they get the boat in?????????

i was completely joking. It seems the general opinion is that non boaters should stay away from the boat ramp. i totally agree with everyone on that...sorry

Twice this year I've gotten a dose of the 'hog the ramp' crowd.  Both times I've been out with the same friend.

Earlier in the summer we went to a 90 acre lake in the next county over.  Neither of us had ever been there, but the photos on the state's website looked great (flooded timber, etc).  We get there and the bank around the ramp is packed.

There's a gramps/granny combo on the dock with their grandkids and they don't even bother to move when I back the boat into the water.  My friend had to step over (the dock was about 4' wide) the kids to hold the bow rope.  They're fishing in about 2' of water, only fish I could see were 2" bluegills.

Fast forward 5 hours.  We come in to take out.  Granny and gramps are gone, only to be replaced by a man & wife and their two kids.  Same thing happened.  They didn't bother to move.  Dock was so crowded we could barely even get out of the boat.  I made sure I banged the boat on the dock a good deal when I was getting out.

Then take Sunday evening for example.  Nobody at the ramp when we put in.  We motor by the ramp about an hour before we take out, just a kid fishing on down the bank, not in the way or anything.  We stay near the dam for a while, then come back to the ramp to take out.  I notice a bunch of people swimming ON the ramp.  I throttle back to idle so I don't cover them up with a wake.  They don't even bother to move as I idled up to the dock.

So I go get the truck and trailer.  As I start to back down the ramp, a family starts walking down the ramp oblivous to me trying to back down the ramp.  I set there revving the engine for a bit, that got their attention and they moved.

So I get the trailer in the water and back the boat out from the dock.  The swimmers didn't bother to move when I backed the trailer in the water and didn't bother to move when I started the boat towards the trailer.  At one point I was just a couple of feet away from them.  I wanted to start up the OB and swamp them, but cooler heads prevailed.

Same lake earlier this summer, had one guy swimming towards my boat (in 60' of water) yelling at me to give him a ride.  Just ignored him and he finally turned back towards the bank after swimming a good 100 yards out into the lake.

Cooler water temps can't get here soon enough.  Maybe that will keep the swimmers and litterers home.  Picked up several floating water and beer bottles yesterday.  And that was with two state game wardens on the water patrolling.

my biggest pet peeve is when i am trying to concentrate on my fishing and those people who must walk around and around the lake like idiots and stop to ask you a stupid question like ''did you catch anything''..oh i hate that so much..and then the parents who let there kids throw stones in the lake where i am fishing.and my last pet peeve is when you get a bunch of people who decide to fish by you and won't quit talking and laughing..that is horrible.

I really only have two...1 big, 1 small. The small one is when I'm bank fishing and someone lets there dog run in the water right near me...i'm too nice to say anything to them but it ticks me off. The BIG peeve I have is when people litter where they fish. This really upsets me and I DO say something to these people. How can you call yourself a fisherman and destroy the land you fish on. TAKE YOUR S@#T WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE DONE!!!

My peeves. My biggest peeve is when we stop at a bait and tackle store and I purchase a certain lure/bait and my non boater SEE"S me buy it and questions my reasoning's and tells me he has never had any luck with them and wants one when I catch a fish on it >:(.

My second peeve is when my non boater clutters my boat  up with open bags, boxes, drink bottles,  trash and then leaves it in the boat for me to clean up. That only happens once tho,  there is no second chance for another invite.

Other peeves in no particular order. getting in my tackle without permission, bringing another non boater without permission, messing with my boat(especially playing around with my depth/fish finder, Almost bottomed out because my non boaters son  playing with it), pick up and use my rod when I switch too another one, least but not last not paying attention to their surroundings.

My biggest pet peeve in life and on the water is quite simply : PEOPLE! just people in general.

The one I really like is when a guy in a monstrous inboard tub of junk thinks he is going to be a nice guy and go by at 1/3 throttle instead of going by fast... Full throttle=little wake. 1/3 throttle=mini tsumani. Thanks for the consideration MORON!
