What are your fishing pet-peeves? These are mine (no particular order):

1. People fishing spinning rods upside down with the guides facing up

2. People who backreel on every cast/retrieve.

3. People who cast over your line.

4. People in other boats who don't slow down when going by fishermen.

5. Losing fish.

6. Making a t-rig and forgetting to put the sinker on.

7. Getting a strike while picking out a backlash.

8. When you fishing buddy casts to a spot you just fished and catches one.

9. Getting line caught in the trolling motor.

10. Getting treble hooks stuck in clothing, carpet, or grab rope.

Lucky for you about 7 of those wil go away with some experience.

My biggest pet peeve now is not bringing enough of the "adult beverages" along for what turns into a full night of fishing for smallies!! ;)

My non-boater turning the back of my boat in to a vegans dream.

After you clean your bait of the weeds just dump them over board and not on to my carpet.

Fishing partner putting anything on top of the net so you don't have easy access to it.

The one I do that really ticks me off. I have a few rods over the side and I didn't leave enough space inbetween them and the lures get tangled. That wastes so much time and I swear I do it every other tourney.

I am kind of like LBH. I don't really have many pet peeves at all. I have ONE. I HATE it when I am fishing public waters, and I catch a few fish and start getting on a roll, and then next thing I know there are a bunch of people on both sides of me absolutely punishing the spot with every lure imagineable. Not only does it make the fishing impossible because of all the lines in the water, but more often than not they are loud and obnoxious to boot and spook the fish. HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE that!!! >:(

I agree with every single one of those. especialy when tehy cast over your line. I have a nasty story to tell you all but Ill only tell you all if you ask because it is kind of long.

also here mine in to particular order

- Someon that cast over your line

- When they get snaged they scream and stay "I CAUGHT ONE!!!" and try to set the hook to only drive the hook farther into the tree.

- When they texas rig they but the bullet sinker on the wrong way so the pointy side points twords the bait.

- When bank fishing some people say "Hey any luck" I say Fishing dossent envolve luck it envolves SKILL then there all like I guess that means you have been catching fish! Then they start making noice in the water and fish right next to me. In my mind im like what the hell? now i have to switch locations because of this freakin guy!

- People that think its cute to let there 6 year old child drive my boat with out permision!

-People that make alot of noice

- People that say they have a 5lber on untill they shake off the 4lbs on hydrilla. They must seem really stupied

- Using my lures then loosing them because they dident tie a good knot.

- (when salt water fishing) YOur fishing partner snags your rig atthe bottem and thinks he has a fish and pulls really hard. And when you tell him to stop he keeps pulling thinking he has a fish. I really hate it when they do that and the rigs are right under the boat there is no way getting it then.

- Someone that forgets to flip the bail and the lure rids like a rocket in circles. I havent gotten snagged like that yet but I will one day.

- They forget to put my tackle back in the bag and I loose them orthey get snagged some were.

- Ok this is the one I hate the most WHEN PEOPLE MESS UP MY ORGANIZATION!!! in the tackle bag. Once some 1 put a unused culprit worm in my GYCB senk bag and all the senkos turned purple!!!

One of the few things that bums me out about fishing is the putting in and taking out of the boat. Suspect ramps, congestion, delays and lack of adequate parking can sometimes put a bit of a damper on the day. I've crossed a few lakes right off my fishing list because of the nightmare at the ramp. To me the maximum amount of time it should take to launch a boat is five minutes. A major problem are the people that decide to wait and load their gear into the boat once they are down at the end of the ramp.....give me a break. Loading and unloading should be like a Nascar pit stop. Quick, efficient, get out of the way so the next guy can load. I guarantee that I won't be holding anyone up.

What flechero said,

One day my buddy and I were on our third day of a trip. As we started out at the bait shop around 5:00 AM. We decided we didn't need any beer. A couple of hours late we found out, we were WRONG!

There are two things that make a potentially great day short: running out of beer or running out of smokes.

I hate someone who's a "Bent Rod", this is a person that will see you catch a fish from afar and put the trolling motor on high so he can start fish in that spot before you get your fish back in the water. My fishing partner and I experienced this just yesterday. I ask him to back off, this did no good. So I casted "at" his boat until he left. Thats mine!

Boaters in a tournament that talk about the 20 pound bag they caught the day before pre-fishing, then tell you every spot they caught one yesterday as you are going down the bank. I usually end up beating them, and combined we might make the 20 pounds.

I hate it when I'm fishing a spot and some yahoo(fishermen and skiers)zoom by me within 20-30 ft wide open throttle.I usually "get 'em back" in exactly the same way before I leave.

Other, theres nothing wrong with that if he is a vegan and he eats all the weeds he's dumped in the back of my boat before they dry out. If not drop them overboard where they belong.

It's plain rude!

You're talking about a $40,000 vehicle.  You wouldn't want someone laying hydrilla on your new mercedes interior, especially when he can simply throw it over board!   Weeds and grass hold mud, bugs, all kinds of junk.  It's just plain ignorant.  The non-boater is a guest on your boat.  Ettiquette is expected.

I am a pretty laid back dude but there are a couple things that can get me pretty hot while fishing:

#1 Seeing somebody through a bunch of old line over board.  It inevitably always ends up in my trolling motor and takes 20 minutes of surgery while on the water

#2  People who use the boat ramp as their own personal playground ... whether it be swimming, fishing, whatever ..... and don't get out of your way when you are coming in or heading out.

For the most part I try to check the worries at the water's edge.

1-10 sounds pretty good to me, lol.  Being the HUGE water bug/lake person that I am, not only do I fish all the time, I like to ski and wakeboard.  Thus knowin how you guys feel, and myself about being washed out, I always take extra precaution when I am around fishing boat skiing and wakeboarding.  But the one thing i cant stand is jetskis doin spin outs right beside the boat or aimlessly riding when there are millions of other gallons of water out there to do it in instead of beside my boat.  I think that they need designated coves on lakes for certain things only, like fishing and skiing coves.

I hate when people look at me like I'm the little girl my dad is taking fishing.

If they only knew that I can hold my own.

I buy and choose my own equipment, etc.  I often beat him also, with my own decisions as far as tackle and such.

I may be a girl but I'm alot tougher than they think.  Sometimes it's a bummer that I happen to be pretty too.  If I were fat and ugly, they probably wouldn't think twice!

Oh I'm sorry I read that wrong. I read that like he wanted to drop them on his carpet and not over board. Sorry for being dyslexic :'( But now I know It is rude. I always though weeds over board.

i tend to think of myself as a laid back fisherman and don't let too many things get to me.  with the said it does get old fast when someone talks non-stop the whole time you are on the lake.  sometimes you just need to be quiet and listen to nature.
