BucketmouthAngler13 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Seeing that today is the day before International Egg Nog Day (some call it thanksgiving) and that Egg Nog is the best drink, i thought i would share my secret recipe for this frothy drink of heavenly goodness. 12 Eggs 1 1/2 cups of sugar 1 tsp of nutmeg 1 quart of milk another seprate 1 quart of milk 1 tablepoon of Vannila Extract (optional) Beat eggs and sugar in large saucepan intill well blended. put on low heat. blend in first quart of milk. blend together well. Once it starts to steam, stir well with a wisk for 5 minutes on heat. (this cooks the eggs) You have to stir it good or there could be tiny clumps of egg. After it has been steaming for about 5 minutes take off heat. Add nutmeg, vannila extract (optional) and the other quart of milk. Mix well. Place in icebath intill lukewarm, then put it in the fridge for 3 hours to chill. Makes 3 quarts. I figured out that by useing this recipe, it cost only $1.20 for a quart of egg nog. (without vannila) The Wawa and other stores around here sell egg nog for $2.40, so you save half price, and is every bit as good. It takes about 20-30 minutes to make, including icebath. You can drink it warm after the icebath, or let it chill for a few hours. Any one else besides me love egg nog? Its my faverite drink by far. By making it homemade you save money and also can have it year round, when most stores dont carry it. Have a great thanksgiving and International Egg Nog Day Matt Quote

BASS fisherman Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Unfortunatly I don't like eggnog either. But thanks for sharing the recipe. And it isn't a secret anymore. ;D Quote
Valascus Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Not a nog fan here either...though I do have one fond memory of it. One year around the holidays when I was about 4, I decided I would like a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast. I got out my bowl and spoon, got the Cheerios, and opened the fridge and took out a carton of what I thought was milk. I didn't think to look at it very closely and couldn't read very well yet...it looked like a milk carton. My folks said the look on my face was priceless when I took my first bite of that bowl of Cheerios in Egg Nog. Mmmmmmmmmmmm... ;D Quote
