Calvin Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 GUINNESS DRAFT! In a pub in Ireland with a supper of wild salmon. After 50 miles on a loaded bicycle. Doesn't get any better than this. As a side note, I raised my glass for the first sip just before all the bubbles had risen, when the gal at the next table grabbed my arm, saying " No, don't drink it yet, it's not ready!" My cycling buddy told her " Hey! if you want somebody to nag, get your own husband." She was a good sport, and we had a nice chat. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 This topic is killing me. I'm on some allergy medicine so I cant indulge in a beer, and you guys are making me thirsty. Thought of another beer too. Sam Adams, flavor any of them. Quote
JiggaMan512 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stouts I like all sammy smiths but there nut brown is very very good Quote
JiggaMan512 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Daniel, Corona has a bit of a skunky smell too. If you don't like beers in green bottles, try . Ive also noticed that heineken has this skunky odor (green bottle) Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 11, 2006 Super User Posted October 11, 2006 Heineken is an excellent beer when it is FRESH. Althouigh Heineken is brewed as a bitter beer, as opposed to sweet, the skunky taste is simply old beer. Once beer is canned or bottled it begins to deteriorate. Budweiser's "Born On Date" marketing program is/was exceptional. If you ever have a chance to go to Grant's Farm in St. Louis or any of the Busch Gardens, they serve "same day" beer everyday, for free! I promise you, there is nothing quite like fresh, cold beer direct from the brewery. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Grants farm, they serve "same day" beer everyday, for free! Hmmmm, that isnt that far. How many do they serve to one person? Road trip anyone? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 11, 2006 Super User Posted October 11, 2006 Technically, two, but who's counting? Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted October 11, 2006 Super User Posted October 11, 2006 In no particular order: Sam Adams Black Lager Sam Adams Cream Stout Boulevard Pale Ale Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat Guiness Stout Summit Pale Ale Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Gotta agree with the "skunk" verdict on Corona and Heineken, although different hop varieties have different flavors, some toward the skunky side. I've had some Boulevard around for months and it doesn't get skunked. Corona starts out that way. I've tried it in Mexico. Still tastes nasty, even when it's fresh. I wish more brewers did the "born on" thing. If it says light or lite on the label, it ain't beer. Don't know what it is, I just know what it isn't. Captain Cali has it dead on. Quality, not quantity. And, the fresher the better. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted October 11, 2006 Super User Posted October 11, 2006 Some of my favs: Yuengling Fat Tire Sierra Nevada Terrapin Anchor Steam Flying Dog Quote
JiggaMan512 Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I liked Guinness Stout on Tap. But about 5 years ago I became allergic to beer. Guess that's proof enough the big guy sometimes has a warped sense of humor. Are you sure its not Guiness Draught and not stout? ive never seen the stout on tap but its possible... Quote
NCT Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 oh my..beer! .......whew. I like most any beer. Kinda depends on mood. Busch light draft for the "Cornflakes in a Can" for breakfast, (j/k) or some Bud Lt for after mowing the yard, or Guiness, Heineken, Corona, Killians, etc. for quality enjoyment... Is there a bad beer? Yep.. Natural Light Ice, Keystone, blacklabel, and a few more comes to mind.. sorry for rambling... word beer kinda excites me. lol Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted October 15, 2006 Super User Posted October 15, 2006 I also like the root stuff. Quote

Guinness is a stout. The Guinness Extra Stout (North American market) is brewed in Canada. The Guinness Draught is brewed in St James Gate and imported. And as for my favorite beer, there are but two answers Guinness Newcastle Miller Lite in a pinch. And if I'm in the area, Olde Hickory Brewing Company (Hickory NC). Quote

Super User Dan: Posted October 29, 2006 Super User Posted October 29, 2006 I don't really drink very much at all, but I did enjoy Abita Purple Haze. Anyone who's been to Louisiana has probably heard of it. Quote
