Autiger24 Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I was just wondering what your favorite crankbait is and what kind of modifications you make such as hook replacement ect. Thanks Quote

BaitMS Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 The Yozuri rattln vibe. I change the hooks out to the Owner ST-41 (2x's), but keep the same sizes. Quote

rondef Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Strike King Red Eyed Shad, I caught my PB on it and lost one even bigger. Quote

I sure don't think they need changed out. 8-) The hooks that come on them are too thin and the tips of the hooks bend down too easy. I had several fish come unpinned and since changing to the owners I've yet to have one come off. Quote
jbasscus Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 RW, what colors (yo-Zuri's) do you throw?? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 17, 2008 Super User Posted April 17, 2008 RBL- Red Black BT- Blue Chrome 8-) Quote
Stringjam Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 1/2 oz. Cordell Spot......if I'm using it as a drop bait I'll take off the trebles and use a long-shank circle hook in the rear. You can fish it on the bottom and through some pretty gnarly stuff without getting hung up, and when you hook a fish, you DON'T lose them. Some other liplesses I like (and I have tried a BUNCH) Shimano Complex Undulator Jackall TN/70 Mamiya-OP Hunting Vib Jr. Air Viper Risebacker (Sound-Less) I think my least favorites are the Rattlin' Rapala and the XCaliburs.....both of which drop their action at slow speeds, and flop over on their sides when you drop them to the bottom. IMO the plain, old, cheap Cordell Super Spot is a superior design....they nose-stand pretty well and work at ANY speed from a crawl to a burn. Quote
Olebiker Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Spro Aruku Shad I have a box full of RatLTraps and Spots that don't get used much since I found this bait. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 18, 2008 Super User Posted April 18, 2008 I tried them all earlier this year. The xCalibur xr50 and xr75 shined. The Spro Aruku Shad was a close second. The only modification needed for the xr50/75 is upsizing the rear hook. The 50 comes with a 6 in the back, the 75 a 4. Quote

Super User iceintheveins Posted April 18, 2008 Super User Posted April 18, 2008 I like rat l traps, but Cordell Super Spots are a bit better. However the XPS Rattle Shads from BPS are the best of all IMO. Quote
thetr20one Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Rat-l-traps and Cotton Cordell. Always swap out hooks for the next larger size regardless of weight. I have an issue with the Lucky Craft LVRs. Ever since my brother in law peirced my ear with the huge Gamakatsus on one, I can't look at them the same. He actually had to push the hook the rest of the way through because it was past the barb and cut it. That kinda hurt!! Luckily he is a firefighter/medic and it was my ear and not my face! Quote
