bass wrangler569 Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 I hope this isn't a topic thats been covered a million times before, but... what is the most you would be willing to spend on one lure. I saw this thing for sale and it made me wonder how much people would actually spend on a lure that was going to be used (not a collectors item). Personally, the most I could see myself spending on a lure is $30 for a hardbait or $50 for a swimbait. Check out this outlandishly priced lure: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300203215971&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=300212905574&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m184&_trkparms=algo%3DDR%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D4 Quote
thetr20one Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Hey look at the bright side. It only costs $3.95 to ship it!!! ;D Quote

Jake. Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 wowits nuthign even special i was expecting sum fancy swimbait but just a regular crankbait geuss thats why it has 0 bids 75% of its proceeds go to charity. To answer the question: 25 dollars for a hardbait. Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted April 12, 2008 Author Posted April 12, 2008 When you paying that much for a lure the shipping should be free! That thing would have to be made of solid gold and signed by KVD himself before I would shell out that much dough. Quote
BassinBoy Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 15 or 20 bucks. I like soft plastics the best. Quote

Oh, I didn't see that. In that case, the thing would have to be made out of solid gold and signed by KVD, or its proceeds would have to go to charity. You know, that would be a easy way to explain a $100 plus dollar lure to your wife, "Hunny, i bought it to help these poor children." The best part is it would be true. Quote
thetr20one Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Honestly though for the charity it will be benefiting I hope the price goes way up. Quote

Chad. Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Depend if it was one i would fish or not. I would pay 150$ for a well made swimbait, or 25$ for a quality crankbait, but I don;t have a job so. Quote
Popeye Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Around $30 for a swimbait and $15 - $20 for anything else. Were I in a competition, then the price might go up a wee bit for the right lures. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 13, 2008 Super User Posted April 13, 2008 I am the proud owner of a Huddleston Prototype 12 Shad and it would scare you if y'all knew what I spent. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I cringe when I go to the Rapala aisle and pick up a $6.99 bait. I guess if it works, and you have confidence, then go for it.... Quote
Super User FishTank Posted April 13, 2008 Super User Posted April 13, 2008 The most I have ever spent on a lure was a Megabass Swimbait. It costs me $30 shipped on ebay. The regular retail on this lure is $65. As far as crankbaits go $15. Quote

telecaster Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I dont like to spend big money on lures"I'm Cheap",I'll take that back I have Scottish blood in me I'm Thrifty. Really, 8 bucks or so,I like the discount bins at NBS you can get some decent stuff for 4or 5 bucks. I will probably break down and buy a LuckyCraft just to keep in my tackle box cuz it says Lucky,so it must be good karma. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 As little as it takes. I'm one of those crazy "common sense" anglers ;D I have no need to impress other fishermen with my gear and quite frankly, the fish don't care so..... Quote
Guest muddy Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I am a cheapo also: but I get sucess with what I use. Platics: *** Topwater:Arboghast,Heddon and Rapala Cranks, Rapala and Storm Quote
wagn Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I keep it as cheap as I can. However I will spend some extra cash on the real senko's sometimes. Most of the time i just stick with ***. The less money i spend, the less extra work I have to do, and the more fishing i can get in. Quote
Wildbillb Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I wont spend more than 8 or 10 bucks on a bait. I can catch fish on the cheap stuff so way pay more? Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 20 bucks tops on any bait other than swimbaits. The most I'll spend on swimbaits I'd say is 30$. Quote
