What frog has the highest hookup ratio?

Just to be clear. If you have only fished one frog, you have no comparison so don't feel you have to pick one if that is all you have fished. I have fished the Bronzeeye and the Sumo and the Sumo seemed to work better as far as hookups.  

I know this question has came up before but the Swamp Donkey was not established well at that time and the smaller Bronzeeye just came out as well.

Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog has a larger bend hook and the points are more upright than most other brands and styles=better hook-ups.

A soft plastic frog such as a Yum Buzz Frog or Zoom Horny Toad with a big 6/0 superline hook has worked wonders for me. If you plan on fishing a hollow plastic frog put a few bb's on it, just enough so it doesn't sink. It will really increase your hook-ups.

Noisy frogs: don't put stuff inside the hollow frogs/rats as that will prevent the body's compression when a bass takes it. Use the external rattles to make extra sound.

Well, if you're serious about an improvement in hook-up ratio,

my best advice would be to switch from a Hollow Frog to a Solid Toad (cane toad, stanley ribbit, sizmic toad, ~ ~).

Hollow frogs with a decent hook-up ratio include the Boze ZZ Walker & Spro Bronzeye Frog Jr. (the swamp donkey sux!)

Catt is right as usual. All of the different styles of frogs require a certain amount of experience to understand the techniques necessary for best hook up percentages. I like a variety of frogs with my favorite being the Rage Tail Toad as it has a small hook slot on the back that allows you to skin hook it (which keeps the hook weedless but point is riding on his back) and this gives a better hook up percentage because the hook doesn't bury up in the body of the bait during hook set. www.ragetail.com

Hey Whts up Jason !  I have had good luck with the bronzeye over the depps but I just got some of the River 2 Sea and have yet to try them but if looks can tell anything thys should be about the same but last a little longer as far as color staying on the body and the the body slipping down the hook.  I will let you know more once I get the boat in since its finally done. ;D

IMHO, it's much more about the rod, line, and most importantly the tecnique of fishing the frog.

Use a heavy action, long rod with braided line.

Then, when you see a fish boil at the frog, WAIT, count to two or three, let the fish get the bait, and then set the hook hard.

Most missed frog fish are not the reult of a bad hook or lure design, it's the fisherman taking it away from the fish.

One trick I've used lately with good success is to not look directly at the frog while you're fishing it. Look slightly off to the side, keeping the bait in your sight. Then, when you see a boil, react slowly, let the bait diappear, and then set it hard.

I've fished the Spro, Reaction Innovation, River 2 Sea, Bozo, Scum Frog heavily and I feel that the hook-up ratio is about the SAME, the most important aspects are the way its fished (i.e. Rod,Line Combo) and the FISHERMAN on the other end of the frog. If your good at delaying hookset and not getting to excited, hard to do by the way, your hook up ratios go way up.  Believe it or not  I would say my average hookup now compared to when I first started fishing the hollow bodies is over 80%.  That being said I am partial to Bronzeye, cause I have more of them in my tackle box and they are easier to come by here in S. FL.  

Those of you who said swim frogs have a higher hookup I think are right, but its not a fair comparision since they are totally DIFFERENT presentations.  As far as swimming frogs again they are all about the same, I still like the "Original" horny toad.  Cane toad is decent, but man does it rip really easily, I can only catch 2-3 fish before its nose cone is useless for rigging.

I fish Horny Toads crotch hooked with a red 5/0 Gammy.  Stays perfectly weedless and I have yet to miss a strike since I started crotch hooking the toad last summer...I have almost completely stopped fishing hollow bodies..

I perfer the hard body frogs. It seemed like I missed more fish with the softbodies especially when they blow up on the lure. I use a zoom with a 5/0 owner hook.

For those that like the swimming frogs, use the proper length hook and put the hook bend between the legs and then skin hook the point into the back. That way the bend of the hook is not blocked with the plastic when the hook is set as the frog swings out of the way=less lost fish. For the Zoom Horny Toad, the Horny Toad hook or the Gammy Oversize hook works well. I prefer the Horny Toad over the others as it is heavier due to the added salt in the plastic and can be cast farther.

Hmmmm........The type of frog doesn't seem to matter to my hookup success.  I am surprised that SPRO, Horny Toad or Ribbit are not on the list.  Those are the best three frogs for me.  I don't throw the SPRO as much because it is lighter and I don't get as much distance on my throws with them.

Not to mince words, but the Spro is there (Bronzeeye).

Also, Horny Toad and Ribbit are toads, not frogs and are fished entirely different.  I don't know about everyone else but I have never missed a hookup on a horny toad.  The real problem are that the soft bodied frogs such as the Bronzeeye don't collapse enough to stick a bass with the hook.  I had a Bronzeeye 65 and I swear that thing is incapable of catching a bass (I know people have luck, but not me).
