ProCrafter Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 After all the health issues and with the economy keeping me from the Roadtrip..... I was wondering if any Northwest folks would like to get together at Potholes Reservoir the 4 days of April 28th thru the 1st. of May.....Fishing should be good...we caught them good last year...outside of the windstorms!! and I promise to not swamp the boat again!!! I have a resort willing to house us with campsites running around $22-$24 a day...they have a group area and a community hall. I can smoke up a bunch of pork ribs and Chicken if the interest is there. Here is the slideshow from last year. http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t79/larfshmn/?action=view¤t=397aac5d.pbw Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 9, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 9, 2011 Hmmm...might have to see if we can make it a day or two. I want revenge on that lake after last year! Quote
ProCrafter Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Okay....its been a couple weeks....anyone in the NW interested?.....Potholes is just a suggestion....we can float some other lakes too, Banks/Roosevelt.....somewhere in Oregon....also open to different time of year. Quote
ProCrafter Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Well im going to Potholes April 28th-30th and staying at Lake Warden Resort...(Campground) they have plenty of spots and they're website is...... www.lakewardenresort.com will post prices when I get them...Potholes Reservoir, Moses Lake and the seep lakes are avail. for the fishing...there is motels nearby and restaurants also...have room for non-boater and if more folks go will play it by ear. These fisheries have Largemouth, Smallmouth, Walleye, Crappie, Catfish.....usually takes 25-32 lbs to win two day tournaments here and Moses Lake it had a tourney that took 58.98 ( http://www.nwbass.net/Results%202008%20Nixons%20Open%205-4-08.htm ) for ten fish to win!!! For those who have talked about going to the Potholes area this is the time so come along and check it out. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 6, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 6, 2011 Pencil us in for the 30th. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 21, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 21, 2011 Make that the 29th - 31st. Quote
ProCrafter Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 I have one couple from another site coming....maybe some from work. Quote
Matt B Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Won't need to stay up there for the weekend (I'm only an hour away), but I may try to get up there to fish with you folks if I can. I'd love to get some pointers on how to properly fish that lake. Quote
ProCrafter Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 It should be good as they start filling Moses now so by the end of the month Potholes should be back to full pool and re-warming....just as a pointer, I just ordered 150 Senkos for a planned re-stock after April-May at the "Holes" also Jigs, Texas rigged Craws and Creature baits and gonna work some spinnerbaits and shallow cranks. Largemouth should be transitioning to spawning areas and searching out exposed gravel beds and the Smallies should be setting up along the dam rocks and flats. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 6, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 6, 2011 I cannot WAIT!! We're really looking forward to it. Got our spot reserved. Quote
ProCrafter Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Potholes Open was just held and it took 50 lbs to win it,,,I believe they had a 6 fish limit per day for this team event for two days!!! I'm so ready to hit that lake for four days of whackin fish!!! Quote
ProCrafter Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Got the camper ready....getting some trailer work done and Thursday morning heading out to Potholes reservoir for 4 days of relaxing sight fishing and going for a new PB Largemouth (Over 7-2) Hope to see folks there, but mostly the fish!!! BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 25, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 25, 2011 We'll be there Sat-Sun. After wackin' them at Kentucky lake this past week, I'm primed and ready for spring. Bring it! Quote
Matt B Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 So how was the fishing? Wanted to get out, but had family in town for the weekend. I still haven't even had a chance to dewinterize my boat yet. Hopefully I can get it on the water next weekend. Quote
ProCrafter Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Had lots of wind Thursday & Friday up to 40 MPH which churned up the water and mixed up any warming to the flats so we found hardly any bedding areas and lots of cruising Largemouth but only when the wind quit and the heating began again...water temps started at 49 degrees and by Sunday were up to 57!! but of course thats when we headed home...I did manage 2 Largemouth at 4.9 and 4.8 Some of the sunsets and time away from the city made it all worthwhile!! BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 4, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 4, 2011 Keri and I were there Sat & Sun too. We saw maybe 10 fish and never stuck one. The fish were either skittish, or just so lethargic they didn't seem to care. We even nudged our boat right up to one and literally banged his head with a jig and he didn't budge! But it was great to get out on the water, and hang out with Larry off the water! Quote
