ib_of_the_damned Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 This lake is the closest lake to my house, I fish there nearly everyday. I usually get skunked everytime I go there, I catch the occasional bass every now and then(probably two a week tops). I throw everything, cranks, spinnerbaits, worms, jigs, topwaters, swimbaits, EVERYTHING! I cant buy a bite for the life of me. Any help would be amazing. I know the bass are around when im fishing, I can see them from time to time. Just cant get them to bite. Advice? Quote
jeffcpr Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Wish I could help I have fished there myself but have never caught any Bass as of yet. I think it is just going to take some time and experimenting to find the right combination of tackle and situations. City parks can be hard do to pressure, but can also be rewarding if you have patients. Have you ever tried Laguna Lake in Fullerton or Yorba Park near the 91 freeway. I leave just near Laguna and was think of try it this weekend for a few hours in the evening, and I have had some sucsses at yorba park as of late. Quote
ib_of_the_damned Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 I have fished at Laguna Lake, I have terrible luck there too! I have my one confidence spot at Tri City that at some point if I hook a bass its gonna be at that spot. Havent fished Yorba Regional yet I have been meaning to but havent had the opporunity to go there. Tri City is like 10 mins from my house. PS. Im not giving away that spot! :-X Quote
UrbanAngler Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 i fished there once for trout in the winter and it was awesome. DFG put some huge stocker trout in that season. hopefully they do the same this season. as for bass, i recently visited tri-city a couple of months ago, and only managed to pull out a few dinkers from the small connecting pond by texas rigging a 4.5 robo worm (black grape). just keep at it and learn your lake, and soon you'll be pulling out lunkers. hey what's up jeffcpr, this is FFF. great to see you on the boards. this is a great forum for bassin info. ib_of_the_damned Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 Finally caught a lunker out of Tri City! Here it is! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 13, 2009 Super User Posted November 13, 2009 Very nice, congratulations! 8-) Quote
jeffcpr Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Nice going that is what patients will do, keep up the good work. ;D Quote
LunkerBandit Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I recently got into bass fishing this past year and I fish at Tri City all the time. I've pulled a couple dingers out with banjo minnows and a 2.5 pounder with a rattlebait. I've dropshotted and texas rigged a few dark colored 5" plastic worms but no luck. I know you wont give me your spot but any help and advice on lures or baits would be awesome Quote
ib_of_the_damned Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Im always at Tri City these days... Honestly its a tough lake, it gets hammered by every type of fisherman. Trout, Carp, Cats, and the upside down spinning reel guys... Lately, I have been tossing swimbaits and the bites are few and far between. I caught a 3.12 just last week, and a good 4 a month or two ago. I would suggest a finesse approach, slow and methodical. Try dropshotting a roboworm in aarons magic or bold bluegill. Thats all I am gonna divulge for now. If you see me there stop by and say whats up, I may tell you a little bit more... 1 Quote
LunkerBandit Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I recently tried spinners because I've had some success on other lakes with it but the only time I've landed anything at Tri-City was on lipless crankbait in the summer. You're right i should slow my approach down. I'll definitely say hi if i see you there soon Quote
bmxjuggalo Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 actually what has been catching be alot of bass lately. are the roboworms in prism shad. or a blue sad. they are both a clear with a blueish tint. i usually fly line them nosed hooked with a owner wacky hook in size 2 and just slowly jerk it back in and stop bout every couple feet. they just kill it. BarrioBass Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 very tough lake... but finally landed one out of the small pond dropshot roboworm Quote
