TruflShufl Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Well I ordered a 10 pack so we'll see what happens at my tourney in a couple weeks 8-) Quote
fishin_fool Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Once you use them you cant go back to lead Quote
thetr20one Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Also, I am no treehugger but they are alot more environmentally sound. Sometimes I wonder when I lose a jig or worm if the lake was drained and I walked around how many baits would I find? The exception for me is tube jigheads I like to fish an open hook and a tungsten weight would be wasted inside a tube! Quote
Peter E. Posted April 11, 2008 Author Posted April 11, 2008 TGhanks for all the replies fellas but one more question though do they penetrate cover better? Quote
Big-O Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Three important reasons why I like tungsten weights over lead. 1) In weight size - advantage tungsten. 2) For holding color if painted (for finicky clear water fish) - advantage tungsten. 3) The most important reason is that since they are much more expensive, I am retying much more often to avoid line breaks which loses weight, hook and fish - BIG advantage tungsten. This reason alone has made me take the time that to do what I have failed to do often enough. I have lost far too many fish over the last 40 years for that very reason. I consider tungsten weights a extremely inexpensive considering the valuable lesson learned. Quote
Big-O Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 And of course they penetrate cover better, they are smaller. Quote

Now that the lesson has been learned it would seem to be a good idea to apply that lesson to the use of lead. Since no matter how careful you are you will still lose stuff once in a while. It is still advantage lead when it comes to cost of lost weights. DWS Quote
