619bassman Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Hey im thinking about making a trip up to diamond valley lake to check it out in the next week or two and was wondering if any locals knew much about the lake and conditions. I know its a new lake so there might not be much of a wealth of knowledge to draw from but thought id give it a shot. Anything would be helpful, thanks. Quote
WBFishing Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Fished it about two years ago from a pontoon, but couldn't hit the spots i wanted to cause my "step father in law's" girlfriend wanted to drive the boat. It is deep and clear, like lots of the lakes. There was a trout plant this week. Wednesday is half off boat rental days, if you are renting from them. I also think you have to make reservations about 24-48 hours in advance of your trip, due to parking and lake limits. Drops shots and swimbaits is what I have been hearing, probably not what I would do considering the time of year and how the weather has been. Last Chance Bait and Tackle has some maps on Florida Ave in San Jacinto/Hemet. Good Luck, Will J Quote
Rick Cargo Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I can see the Saddle Dam from my backyard. Hope you like 'deep' water fishing. The shallows are pounded on a daily basis and in most parts of the lake you are in 50-60 feet of water and maybe only a 100-150 feet from shore. The people who work in the tackle shop and launch ramp are the rudest individuals I have ever dealt with at a lake. Quote
WBFishing Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I wasn't too fond of them last time I fished it. Seemed like the "mommie/daddy money" type to me. Didn't seem to know anything about fishing or boat safety either. Quote
rodmaker65 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 iwas there over a month ago caught only one good size bass 4 pounder seen a lot of fish but it was too early still this lake is so big and deep that it takes time for the water temp to change one bad thing is the water level has really dropped i have a cousin that lives about 3 miles from the lake he told me yesterday that the water level has dropped even more from last month you can rent their boats only the boat dock is way out there that private boats cant even be launched, however they opened up 5 miles of shore fishing Quote
Sin_City702 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 i have heard of guys going through 50-100 fish a day and all around 2-4 pounds...sounds like a fun day to me Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 9, 2009 Super User Posted March 9, 2009 I agree...you can catch bass in shallow water but it's so pressured you may only get a few fish under 5 lbs. other spots for bass is hit or miss. Right now it's slow except for strippers. I can see the Saddle Dam from my backyard. Hope you like 'deep' water fishing. Infidel. Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Spool up with some fluorocarbon and drop shot a Morning Dawn Robo. You'll catch fish. Maybe not the biggest but you'll get some. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 9, 2009 Super User Posted March 9, 2009 Just got a local report. Bass are bedding in 3 to 10 ft. of water.. Break out the Senco's... ;D Quote
TopwaterBassin Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Just out there this last weekend, going back this next weekend, and the Wednesday after that as well. You can always catch BASS at this lake, all year long if you fish it enough and know the tricks to the time of year. I agree that the pressure is there for the BASS fishing from shore, but half off rental day is the day to go. Not a lot of pressure on the other side, or along the dams since there is no shore fishing allowed from those areas. Hit me up, I'll split the rental anyday. Quote

oldschoolbasser Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I fished there about a month ago.Caught fish on shaky heads, and drop-shots.Most fish came in 10-25ft of water off points, fish averaged 3lbs.M.M.III,SXE Shad & Prizm Shad were the best colors.Lake was down 120 ft,it's a long walk to the bottom of the ramp.If you rent a boat, try going on Wed as it's 1/2 rental rate.Bass boat is $78.
