SarahDavidson Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Hi, I have a 4-year-old, a tent, and pretty standard equipment, but no boat. Are there any good areas with enough smallish fish biting to entertain a little one, good (big!) bass fishing from shore, and/or cheap boat rentals? I'm looking for somewhere within 1-2 hours driving of Spokane to camp for a weekend where we can catch enough fish to justify turning on the smoker. :-) Thanks, Sarah Quote
Dad_Golf_Fish Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I haven't been around there much since the mid 80's, but once of the nicest areas I saw was around Ft. Spokane. I believe it was around Davenport. Another option is the short jump across the border to Idaho. I believe kids still fish free, but you would need to get a non-resident license. I did that about 4 years ago and think I paid around $25 for a three day license. The area I fished was Rathdrum, which is within the drive time you specified. Quote
Big Fish Rice Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Sarah, I know of a great place that will allow tent camping, boat rentals (with motors if desired) and some great fishing action as of late. Williams Lake is mainly a trout lake, but I've seen some bass caught out of there as well. If you don't want to rent a boat, the dock is a very productive spot that a lot of kids fish off of. Here's the link to Klink's resort, where everything is taken care of as far as camping and fishing. The site even has a "directions" tab at the top, along with the "amenities" tab that includes a map. Check it out! My girlfriend and I caught our limits of Rainbow Trout (5 each) and had a good time; I just couldn't get the bass to bite. http://www.klinksresort.com/ Quote
Get Offme Fish Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Hey Sarah if you want to travel over to Idaho there is Round Lake camp ground about 10min south of Sandpoint. The campgrounds are really nice w/ showers and is embedded in tress so you are camping in shade. The Lake is nice lake filled w/ trout, bass, and pan fish with two long docks and a walking trail around the lake. Its a beautiful place to go. Also has a small beach area for the kids to swim. No boat rentels but I believe they have canno rentels. Im not able to post the link but you can search it Round lake state park Hope you have a fun and relaxing time :) Quote
