TJS Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I'm curious to see how many Casitas shore fisherman there are on this forum(Specifically Bass Fisherman). Quote

Infidel. Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Not a lot of shore fishing to be had at Casitas. There is a streach but do your self a favor any try to get on a boat. You'll have a much better time. Quote
TJS Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 I'm sure fishing would be much better with a boat...but, even though I don't catch limits of fish, I've been catching some quality fish. I just got back into bass fishing within the last 2 weeks after some 8 years. I was in elementary and middle school back then and it is much more interesting and exciting now that I understand a little more about locating fish or possible fish holding structures and what kinds of lures to throw for certain structures/conditions. Infidel. Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Well welcome back to the sport. I wish I was as close to that lake as you are Glad to hear that you are catching them out there. Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 18, 2008 Super User Posted July 18, 2008 There are some regulars that fish the shore at Casitas. The marina area, boat storage area, orchard point, model airplane area, fishtail cove and deep cat are all good. Most use big 10" to 12" Bonzai hand poured worms and wake type swimbaits for the big bass, or slip shot rigged 6" Roboworms for general bass fishing. Fish the lake regularly with a boat and the worm bite is fairly good now at 15 to 20 feet. WRB Quote
TJS Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Yeah, I've been catching most of the fish on a Texas-rigged 6" Straight tail Roboworm during daylight and switch to topwater and jerkbaits in grey light and dark. However,The last few days I've been out have been slow. The bite seems to be inconsistent or maybe it's because I'm just fishing the same spots too often with the same baits. Quote

crasha51pan Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Have fished it. Had better luck around the island. Quote
Sin_City702 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 There is a good fishing from the shoreline. If you are looking at the main ramp, turn left and walk down. They sometimes use that area as a alt ramp when the water gets low. There is an old road that run way out into the lake..on the right side of it there is like a curb underwater and a lot of fish like to hold on it. Also that whole shorline there is covered in reeds that the fish like to hold in as well...really good during spawning season. if you go to the other ramp, there is a really good point down the off of the bathrooms...also a fishing dock which i have seen a lot of people catch some good fish on. Good Luck! PM me if you want some great colors and different things to throw. Quote
