vegasfinfan Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hello all - new member and first post. We're taking the boat and family for a 3 day camping trip to Silverwood Lake. Never been before so was wondering if there were any tips on techniques, lures or hotspots you might be able to pass along Thanks in advance to any helpful suggestions. Quote

vegasfinfan Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Well we just got back from Silverwood and I hate to say it but we regret our choice of going there in the first place. Poorly maintained grounds (bathrooms were a mess and out of order). Half of the showers were out of order too. There was an infestation of yellow jacket (wasps) everywhere. We could not even eat at the picnic table without getting swarmed by DOZENS of them! Even while we were fishing on the lake they would aggressively fly/land on us. It was very disappointing to say the least. Had the fishing been good, we could have overlooked a lot but it was terrible too. We fished for two days straight and got totally skunked! Used nightcrawlers, anchovies and everything else in my tackle boxes to try and coax a strike from something but to no avail. I'm no novice fisherman by any stretch either (bass fisherman in Florida my whole life). Oh well, live and learn. We did spend one night at Hesperia Lake (20 minutes north) and landed 5 nice sized catfish (I know, I know but it was better than nothing) so it wasn't a total loss ;D Quote
