And if there was ever a bad day fishing then I could say it was today. The only catch I had today was stick fish, and of course myself, nothing like adding insult to injury with a hook in your finger  :-[... I fished at the dam, and the water temp was right around 50 degrees, I threw everything in my tackle box, but not one bite. Oh well there well be better days I hope.

And I forgot to add that my brand new shimano rod broke right in half, Have no clue how it happened, I just picked it up to rig my hook and saw it was broken at the very end...Yeah today sucked

Bummer.

Maybe the bass are still holding deep or they are at the shallow part of the pond.

As for your rod, contact Wayne Knabe and he can put it back together for you, 804.239.6751.

Wayne is in Powhatan and he is a great guy with extremely reasonable prices.

Once you meet him you will really like him.  :)

I fished there my whole life and dont really fish much there in the spring.  i went out at 12 and fished till about 230.  i used a spinner bait, and a shad colored split belly fluke with a slip sinker.  i didnt catch anything.  i fished from the bank and fished to the right of the dock and in the far back corner of the dam by the houses and about 200 ft headed back towards the parking area. (kinda confusing, i know.)  you guys got any suggestions on what, how, and when the best time to fish there in the spring is?  like i said, i dont usually fish in the spring because you have to fish too slow for my liking, but in order to be a well rounded fisherman i figured that i needed to start learning.  I gonna go out tomorrow, the 24th at about the same time.  If one of yall could help me out with some advice i'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for responding.  Ive done that before but i was just wondering if anyone had a specific lure or technique that works during the spring time here.  Or if anyone had a specific hotspot on the lake for the spring time.
