Super User deep Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 to Chris Greene reservoir, Charlottesville. I have had zero luck this year with bass. Over maybe 10 shore-based trips, I've managed a whooping total of two bass. I believe I was fishing too shallow. I'm sick of not catching anything. I'm feeling rather helpless; and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions related to central VA bass would be great. Quote
endless Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I feel ya. Though I only been out twice this year. Me and my brother. Diascund skunked both of us. only 1 hit for the day, on my brother crank which got off right at boat. Lake Orange I got 3 dinks on shakey head (3/16 ounce and a zoom watermelon red shakey) in the 16 ft range. No other hits and nothing for my brother. The biggest might of been 6''. Good luck out there! Quote
luv2fish33 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Good luck on saturday deep, maybe with the yak you can get to some places you cant fishing just the banks. By no means am I an expert but I think fishing cold waters its more important to have a slow presentation more so than what you throw out there. Quote
Super User deep Posted March 12, 2011 Author Super User Posted March 12, 2011 I went out to do a little shore-prefishing on the very lake this evening. I visited a couple of coves. The water was uniformly chocolate milky. I hit all the shallow visible covers I could find with soft plastics. I made several casts to the same spots, and nothing. Not a bite. And the forecast for tomorrow says 17 mph winds. My little kayak will be blown all over the reservoir. I haven't cancelled the trip yet, but it's a big IF now. EDIT: Didn't take my yak out. It was too windy. I had an interesting experience, and two lost swimbaits, while shore-fishing. Read here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1299975720 Quote
